By his sheer age and just how much older he is then them, Anu is almost definitely the root of all 3 of them. Sumerian religion seems to be the first we've found as of yet bar the earliest tree and rock worship.

The Mesopotamian pantheon has been both fascinating and confusing. Some sources describe Anu as the primary progenitor and all-father. I've also seen a couple sources, referencing Hurrian myth, that show Alalu as the progenitor, whilst Anu remains as a primary ruler. Doesn't help that this all relates to a set of myths that potentially predate Greek mythology.

Well that's to be expected when the Middle East was divided into many competing nations. Assirians favored Anu as supreme deity, Babylonians preferred Ishtar/Innana, the Jews worshipped Elohim/Yahweh. It's no wonder some nations highlighted one god over another. It wasn't politheism once the Babylonians came in, it was henotheism.

These accounts sure do paint the picture on how Abrahamic religions are continuing Mesopotamian and Sumerian tradition and practices. I imagine that Alalu is coincidentally phonetically similar to Allah, Allat and Ilah, but you never know. Subsequently, it was a great idea to continue with Middle Eastern religion and Mythology, given their relation to Christian lore. These two videos go hand-in-hand greatly.

I'm very intrigued by the 'son overthrowing father via sexual indiscretion' motif, as I note the similarity Kumarbi has with Ham (Kham, חם) who was involved with a sexual indiscretion with his father Noah, who in this case is phonetically similar to Anu. Robert Alter also drew this comparison with Ham and Noah to Cronos and Uranus.

An Enlil and Enki = Creator Sustainer and Destroyer = Heaven Earth and Underworld = Brahma Vishnu and Rudra = Odin Thor and Loki = Zeus Poseidon and Hades = Jupiter Mars and Pluto etc. They have different names in the different old traditions. They represent aspects of Supreme Consciousness, the Consort of Matter. Matter and Consciousness are Mother and Father: Inanna and Demuzi, Shiva and Shakti, Frey and Freya etc. They are 2 sets of 3 complementary deities. Btw, there is a being Anu along with all of his sons feared very much. This being came to Enki in a dream and told Enki since he messed with the root race(people) of the God's(planet's) DNA he must spare them of their demise since he led them to it. Yes, they called planets "Gods" back then. Anyways, this being was so feared Enki went and faced his father Anu and explained to him everything him and Enlil have been doing on the 7th planet. Anu bans enki to live the rest of his life within earths cycle. As for enki's creation(us), enki told anu the name of the man from his dream and Anu trembled.
