A quick search will show you that very little of this is really in the Sumerian texts. I can't find any source for a complete story like this. But it's really interesting how the culture and technology to build giant buildings and the focus on astronomy appeared in different parts of the world around 7000 years ago. Also the creation myths often has this in common, gods, giants, angels residing in the sky. Creating human kind and it's habitat. Even the old nordic mythology, old and far from the "biblical" areas talks about the original giants that created gods that created Ask and Embla, the first humans. This is how genetic engineering would be described if you have no knowledge or language for it. Ask and Embla lived in Midgard, a walled and protected land (Eden) Anyway, an entertaining theory and the most complete and logical creation theory i think 😀

Nice video summary of 1976 book The Twelfth Planet, by author Zecharia Sitchin. I was hoping for a more realistic account of Sumerian mythology, but this was cool. I guess leaving that tidbit out of the video/ description (as of writing this I can't see any mention of it) helped make the video more appealing (as evidenced by the 3mill views). Bit worrying how a lot of commenters immediately assumed this everything here is factual though. A quick search would have told you portions were from a 1976 book, and not actual Sumerian myth. Not bashing people for believing or anything. But I would recommend further researching things for yourself.

If you look at most religions there are strikingly similar patterns. Most gods come from somewhere away from earth. Most gods desire gold, which is known today for being one of the best metals for technological constructs and travelling through space. Annunaki is actually a compound word in Sumerian. It means "Of An and Aki", which were the Male and Female pair of creator gods in Sumerian Mythos. This compound word basically means that the Sumerian Gods are descendants of An and Aki. It's like they were Chromosomal Adam and Mitochondrial Eve rather than they came from space.

It took a lot of liberties. I'd like to see their sources for a planet called Nibaru. I have read translations of a lot of Sumerian mythology and have never come across any reference to Nibaru before. The only time I have ever heard of Nibaru is in connection to a new-age (20th century) dooms-day cult. It is, however, true that many of the biblical stories (q.v. Adam and Eve, the flood and the garden of Eden) were later post-exilic insertions into the biblical text. Adamu however comes from an Assyrian creation text, not a Sumerian one.

This video seems to be entirely based on the books of Zechariah Sitchen. Like Velikovsky and Von Daniken before him, he drew on mis-translations and mis-constructions to support his pseudoscience and pseudohistory. Sitchen taught himself Sumerian Cuneiform whilst working for a New York shipping company and used his presumed expertise to translate Sumerian texts. His translations have been condemned by academics as being wildly inaccurate.

I read the book of Enoch which really is endorsed by the bible in the book of Jude. Enoch has some unscientific writings in chapter 18 so how can it possibly be from God. I believe in God but not in scriptures that don't make sense.

There is no book of Enoch mentioned rather Jude 1:14 mentioned only the name of Enoch. Don't assume that the bible recognized the so called "Book of Enoch" by just mentioning the name "Enoch"

Well according the the dates, christian and jewish religion came after. So technically they would be ripping off the sumerian religious stories. Not trying to start an arguement, the fact is sumerians wrote this stuff first which makes it even more mindblowing, there must be some amount of fact to the stories.

If this account of mesopotamian mythology is accurate, then the similarities between mesopotamian and greek gods and goddesses is remarkable. The sun god riding a chariot etc Even the go and goddess names are somewhat similar, there have to be common roots. Also the old testament has borrowed a lot from mesopotamian mythology it seems. Adam, eden, the cataclysm.

Unfortunately, this account of Mesopotamian mythology is not accurate. It's largely based on a conspiracy theory written in the 70s as opposed to actual Sumerian beliefs. The stuff about the names and the gods characteristics aren't so far off though, so you're still correct about that.

I heard a different version of this story, the one I heard the Igigi where the ones who won the war, and went on to colonize the continents of Mu and Atlantis, becoming the Lemurians and the Atlantans. And the reason why the atmosphere on Nibiru was failing was a result of nuclear war. And the Annunaki genetically engineered humanity to use as slaves, but hates us with a passion.
