As a level 47 Anub'arak with about 60% WR I want to add some tips. When you take Bed of Barbs you should go (70% of the time) Burning rage. The damage of the barbs with the burning rage is decent, especially for waveclear in map like Infernal Shrines. When you get your level 7 shield, remember that casting W while you're just shield will allow you to potentially tank more damage, couse W spell shield goes away when W shield (3s duration) expire or is broken. If you have another sort of shield (like the level 7 talent) it's easier to get value of full 3s duration spellshield without being afraid that enemy can easly break the shield. Sometimes It's better using Q for initiate fights, cause enaging with E can set yourself in a bad spot and die. This can be learned with some experience XP Bed of Barbs can be a good choice if your team isn't totally focussed on diving into enemies and if you need poke tools (e.g. Poking enemy from capturing tributes). If you're not sure to complete easly the Regeneration Master quest or enemies has tons of ability damage, choose at 1 the Nerubian shield. Ps: sorry for potato english

Matias Uppstad When they changed the passive spellshield with the W activable spell shield i've done several tests in Try mode and even in Lobby with some friends. The results are clear: "If someone break your shield within the 3s duration, you lose spell shield too (only the one that you gain using W)

another cocoon tip is cocooning the hero that is is best at breaking the cocoon to avoid it from being instantly deleted. These heroes are often mages, like for example Li-Ming.

Also cocoon is nice for the enemy hero that will heavily screw your team if they aren't shut down. Dragonqueen alexstrasza is one such example of a cocoon. A good cocoon on a highly dangerous enemy that would potentially cause you to lose fights, is almost as good as getting that target killed, provided you can get value before the cocoon breaks. In scenarios where you have to kill a certain enemy hero or lose the game, it can be pretty tough to kill that hero, making cocoon outstanding if it is well timed on that target.

I really enjoy shedding Exoskeleton at lvl 4 and the CD refreshing of the Exoskeleton at lvl. 7 especially if the enemy team is skill shot based or has low mobility in general. You can play so much more aggressively and have a mana efficient low CD escape which mean bad position won't be as hard punished and vice versa where you can engage with just movement speed while enjoying a shield and better dodge capabilities.

IMO at low ranks where people don't know how to take advantage of cocoon it's a better idea to take Locust Swarm especially in the likely event when an assassin on your team is under performing.

Why not go full beetle build + locust swarm for lifesteal? Sounds way more fun than just being an anti burst tank with some stuns

Cause you win more with cc-bot anub. Also it's not really "some stuns". Anubs engage and cc is top tier. With this said, i don't really play Anub (am dps main), but i greatly appreaciate the anubs who lands a good cocoon and fokus on the cc/engage/peel.

I just stumbled on your channel and these beginner video's are really useful for new players like me. I already watched your play-by-play explanation of Abathur which was also great. (EDIT: Now I can better understand Abathur players & their decisions when playing him so I can enable them more.) I hope you make these for all the heroes & keep them up-to-date with the reworks. I'm currently bringing my entire hero pool to lvl 5 to get more heroes & experience but your videos provide a lot of in-depth knowledge, which is much appreciated! Now if only I could improve my potato gameplay and crank those dmg numbers up, unfortunatly I'm still just standing around too often & not attacking. (Left click & forgetting to press A every time.. -_-' ) stuff like lacking the game sense i.e. I'm tanking, when my team starts disengaging instead of engaging. Sigh. hope it comes with more experience, somehow the follow up engagement is much different then other games. Prob. because of character diversity. Sorry #rant but Thanks for the vid's they provide a better base for us starters!

7, 10, 20 are core talents that should never be replaced beetle talents are underwhelming and terrible at 1 the spellarmor is standard, globe quest if you are looking for longer uncoordinated fights 13 all of them are viable, most common is the aa talent since it's free damage, burning rage is always good and the other talent is more instant burst but costs mana 16 it's almost always epicenter but reduced spellpower is sometimes ok

honestly wish they'd replace the bugs with some other trait. They're amazing at solo-pushing a fort, but... since that's NEVER a role for Anub, that's useless.

Anub's W ability has 60 spell armor built into it I think. Pros are so good at judging when to use it that it's more valuable to get more hp with regen master. I personally use nerubian armor myself because on not that good with him.

I dabbled a bit in ranked last season but I have been watching HGC and a lot of your videos among others and with the new season starting I dived in last night on my placement matches. Four straight losses. Most likely I’m playing with lower level gold players from what I can tell. I’ve tried Deckard, Yrel, Ragnaros and Thrall. If I lock them down with Deckard they are not getting blown up, we aren’t getting dual tank so I go with Yrel and it goes OK but we still lose. Rag was on Braxsis and was just getting annihilated by Kerrigan. Thrall game was a tiny bit better but we were out bulled by their Muradin and Dehaka. I’m just not seeing soak, or camp timing or retreats and coming in as 5 for objectives. I’m considering just taking Sylvanas and getting camps and pushing lanes as I’m not seeing good ganking rotations and teamwork in general is poor. What the pros pick and how they coordinate just doesn’t work in lower ranks and the draft banning is pretty bad most times.

My advice is talk a lot, engage with the other players, be polite and try to "force" teamwork through civility. When you get to higher ranks teamwork will improve accordingly. Although this can be difficult on some servers where players speak many languages, blizz needs to do something about that asap. Talk is cheap, not talking is expensive.

Also consider this video versus that video. Beginner guide vs Meta build. Beginners often spend a lot of time laning which is why burning rage would be better for that play style, even if it isn't the most optimal thing that a beginner should be doing all the time.

ACCELS?! Did you mean excel? Overall, that gide lacks a lot of information about anub'arak (and tanking) as a whole. First off, yes you should practice full combo on anub'arak but that's because your rewind combo enables you to kill almost any squishy instantly (if they don't get cleansed ofc). But for most of most games anub'arak is about positionning and punishing ennemy mistakes. No explanation as to when you should pick him : Anub'arak is runned for 2 reasons: cocoon and dive. His cocoon is insane at shutting down carries (one of the main counter to cho'gall in TL for example) the idea being when a fight breaks, you cocoon their main source of damage while you go in and destroy someone else. the other reason is because he enables dive so well. I'd have to say that in the current meta dive is a little bit less of a given than a few month ago, but genji is still a thing and kerrigan is shaping up the meta as we speak. It doesn't stop anyone from running an oldschool tyrael+ greymane. Add in any other good range follow up (say cassia) and you have a monstrous dive team where anub can set up any play by simply cocooning the tank, bypassing him completely while the rest of the tank follows up on his initiation. However, as most tanks with their escaped tied to one of their cc you should restrain from using your mobility as your engage 80% of the time. E is not your engage (unless running a dive team which might very well be the reason you picked anub in the first place) you engage with q and walk up to your targets. You need to keep e to turn around for peels or use it during the fight when you see an ennemy out of position. I'm very surprised to not here anything about the beatles? Anub'arak is in a way the sylvanas of tanks :he can enable a fort dive for his team because he will spawn beatles that will take the fort aggro. When playing anub'arak if a wall is down and you can communicate with your team, don't be afraid to dive for a weak ennemy, or to snowball any advantage into free fort damage.
