Watch in HD!!! So I haven't put up a video in a while! I've been really busy playing with the groups that I am currently involved in. I finally have a minute where I can spend some time and make more videos. This is a drum play-through of Alchemy and Mata Hari by Intervals (one of my bands). We released our EP 'In Time' late 2012, which features these two songs. Alchemy is an intro tune we included on the EP. Live, we play Alchemy into Mata Hari, so I decided to group the two songs into one video! These songs are by far the most fun to play off of the EP. I plan on uploading play-throughs for the remaining Intervals tunes in the future!
I purchased a new camera back in December. I've been taking some time to make my videos a bit more interesting. I thought this turned out decent!!!
I recently became a Pearl artist. The kit I am using in this video is a Pearl export, which was my first drum kit ever. I took the wraps off of it years ago and had one of my best friends paint the shells. I've had this kit for YEARS! I am using a 14 x 6.5 Pearl Reference Brass snare in this video. I did order a kit from Pearl, which will hopefully be here in April. I plan on doing numerous videos with that kit once it is here!!!

note 1: there is no trigger on the snare or anywhere on the kit. also the sound depends heavily on the type of the drumhead (Anup has Remo Black X, Alex uses Evans Hybrid, Travis uses some kind of coated Remo on his snare) and the tuning and the playing style. note 2: fyi Alex triggers his bass drum

It allows them to fully resonate, instead of being choked. Also, it prevents them from cracking around the bell of the cymbal.

Hey man! Fair question! This is actually an old kit. It was my first kit ever! haha! And I did blend a tom/kick sample in this mix. There are still original drums in the mix as well (like the drums on the actual EP). I could have played to a drum-less track, but I wanted my mix to resemble the EP in a way... I never trigger any of my drums. I do believe that there is a large difference between layering a sample and triggering. I don't have anything against triggering either, I just never do it.

I feel the same way I don't trigger my kit at all either I don't even sample over my kit but I do get asked at shows and my old bands videos if I trigger. I just say no there just tuned really low to get all that attack I do use a click plate/pad to emulate a trigger sound but it's not a trigger or a sample it just a metal plate under a piece of duct tape

Hey man! I love em!!! I normally use an 18" Byzance Brilliant Medium crash instead and an 18" Mb20 Rock china as supposed to the Classics Custom cymbals I am using in this video. The Classics Customs track really well though!!! And they are SUPER durable... Its a really good line to play out with because they are really loud and can take a hit or two.
