Anvil F7C and F7A HORNET MK II - EXPLAINED

Welcome Citizen, today new ship launched in Star Citizen F7C HORNET MK II and I was totally confused. Two variants of the ship that already exists ? Than after reading a lot and learning about all the ships my confusion is ended and I want to help you not to be confused by explaining everything you need to know about F7C and F7A HORNET MK II.

Well… I melted my SRV and got a F7C MKII. I think there are issues with it atm. The flight characteristics in atmosphere are wonky. It nose dives unexpectedly. Then the looks… It looks great, but not if you put the S5 mount or (current) ball turret on it. It sits too high on the chassis and looks ugly. If you put a nose gun/turret on it, it clips into the landing gear! Not Gold Pass for sure. And lets not talk about it only having two mfd’s. But the main issue with this up gunned Hornet might be the same weapons capacitor with the same fill rate as the old Hornet. This means you have a lot of dps but it is only for a short time. I flew it back to back with the F8C and that one flies so much smoother, faster, beter, even in atmosphere. The F8C’s weapons capacitor is almost twice as large, which makes a big difference (albeit with the same capacitor fill rate - things have to be ‘fair’). The F8C has 8x S2 missiles, instead of 8x S1. And the F8C has far more quantum fuel, so it can run a Spectre or VK-00 QT drive and still have better range. And it indeed has dual S2 shields vs dual S1. So imho the F8C is still the king (which it should be, as it’s an improvement over the F7C). An F7A might come close, but probably not best its proposition. Drawbacks for the F8C are its price and availability though. If CIG fixes the F7C issues, it might be sweet, but atm I’m likely to melt it myself. And remember, a far better ship for only $25 more is the Taurus, which comes with an Arrow loaner I think. Newer isn’t always better. Cheers! o7

Nicely explained. I would use deadbolts on f7a so capacitors to me at least don't matter. The only advantage against that scenario is s4 and s3 weapons which will be handy when armor is in game. o7 my friend.

@@Pickyyyyy Surely I do mean the Connie T. Unless you are PvP inclined ofc. In such case there is not really a choice but the handful of meta ships for that. The argument for the Connie Taurus is more about the value proposition, meaning the F7C/A is a little marketing stunt that likely will become meta for PvP. The price point is a bit much for what you get imho. And the grim truth is the F7A upgrade will be in the form of a single token to be applied (and not available in your buy back) outside the game. Meaning the F7A upgrades won’t be available to everyone in game for aUEC for the foreseeable future.

It all depends on where one wants to spend the cash while chasing the meta. The F7C/A looks good, for now. But i doubt we have to wait very long for CIG to introduce a new OP version of F8 with even more fire power, that will be just a little bit better, so that we can throw some more cash at Chris's direction.

Looking over some erkul stats, the f7a is… slower? Yaw, pitch and roll… or is that the effect of the extra weight for all the f7? Btw the current f7c can do 6 guns too. 2 t3, 2 t1, and either a t4 or two t2s in the ball turret.

F7C also has Ball turret and nose guns u can install, giving it 6 guns as well. Its jst not stock. But all pilot controlled. The F7A just comes with bigger guns on nose and turret

Yes, but you can equip size 1 and 2 not S3 Like F7a and it is not nice like full f7a with original turrets.

Thanks mate. Yes you should get an upgrade. It doesn't have to be warbound. As far as I know everyone who finishes overdrive will get an upgrade. So maybe we can also upgrade in game bought ship. We will see.

You have to play overdrive Inicijative which is priority mission right now. Finish all 5 and wait for next week, every week new priority mission. Finish them all and you get free upgrade from F7c to F7a

The main advantage of the F7A mkII (aside from default loadout) is it's S2 powerplant. 1x S2 is effectively 3x S1 according to CIG. So, while it lacks the 'redundancy' of the civilian model, it has 33% more power. This should give it more sustained firepower. Plus all the extra armor. Overall, the A model will be quite deadly compared to the C.

The C has 2 S1 powerplants and the A has 1 S2... And the C has a higher SCM speed than the A. If you get the turrets for the superhornet on the C you can get an additional 2 S2s and I think you can get s S3 or 2 S2 on the nose. But, nothing compared to the S3 you get with the A variant. I hope they sell it in Invictus. Great vid :)

What I am hoping is that the F7A variant with the larger power supply gains a bigger capacitor. That is one of the biggest drawbacks to the Hornet series in general, very small Capacitor for 6 guns. However, the S4 hardpoints are excellent for ballistics if you're not worried about projectile velocity as much.

There is now in game Overload Inicijative you complete all events during the next few weeks and you will be rewarded with a free upgrade for F7c to F7a on Invictus day. That is in May I reckon.

You do not have to complete all the event you can also join in late just make sure you participate in at least one event and you’ll get it

Complete all the upcoming quests over the next weeks. The first one is online. This will get you a "free" ticket to upgrade the F7C Mk 2 only to become a F7A

2xS4 and 4xS3? The CAP must be about 4 shots. With 2xS4, 2XS2 and 2xS1 the CAP is seriously limited already. I see some serious drawbacks to so much firepower with no extra total power over the C model. They need to add an extra Power Plant or something to make all those extra big Weapons actually mean something besides spending the majority of your time waiting for your 5-10 shots to recharge. The F7C MK II already suffers from this somewhat when you fully load it out. The only solution for the CAP issue is to have a Mixed Loadout but until they fix the Ammo issue with Ballistics your are just switching out one shortage for another.

so the military variant has 1 gun more on s3. Civilian you can outfit 2xs4 1xs3 and 2xs3 on turret does not leave you much ammo if all is energy based weaponry though, do hope the military version will beat that. Better power plant, hope capacitors really will be better. I wonder how many weeklies there will be.

IIRC, the Overdrive Innitiative awards the FCU but you dont need to have a F7C Hornet MKII to upgrade to the F7A. You can upgrade whatever ship your GP is to the F7A, so you dont have to buy the F7C to get the F7A. You should still get the F7C in game to test out if youll enjoy the F7A but dont spend real money on it unless youre certain you want the ship

the civilian variants are essentially under powered than their military counterparts, the F7A MKII carries one size weapon over the civilian variants, the military version also has the ball turret locked in its design the civilian version can install a ball turret but a size smaller than the military version, you can get a bigger size weapon but you can only mount one on the turret side. thats it, the F7A/C MKII is a better and sleeker looking design than the MKI version and has more firepower. 😁W/C paves the way for an even MONSTER Mark II variant for the military F8 Lighting.

I'd like to remind those in the comments, depsite how unlikely it may seem don't just assume people like the mk2 over the mk1 there are genuinely people out there who aesthetically PREFER the mk1 over the mk2! And as for the matter of straight-grading. It's understandable to be warey of it however it's fully supoorted by lore and was voiced as something the project would like to have from the outset. Thus giving these factors being the case the argument an Leopard1 tank(mk1) ought to be just as good as a leopard2(mk2) is frankly absurd. As long as the Mk1 retains a sense of viability (which it still does) i dont see the problem here.

I want to love it but I just cant...on paper it sounds great, but in the actual game it just is not as good as my F8C. The pressure I feel to buy one though is high cause of the even giving a free upgrade to the F7A which I believe is the first military spec ship given out to us....ugh I just cant decide if its good enough to justify the 160$

The F7A MK2 doesnt beat the F8 in dps, but it is close. with a laser repeater loadout on both the F7A MK2 matches the Hurricane at 3280 dps and the F8 will have 3400 dps. Once armor is in the game, the F7 could be better vs something like a Tali or Vanguard, but vs other light, medium or heavy hybrids (eg Cutlass, Freelancer) both ships would likely do as well from a dps standpoint. I doubt light or medium fighters are gong to get enough armor to make an S2 gun be that much less effective than an S3 gun. Even then though you may need to equip guns like cannons instead of repeaters if you want to do more damage against armored targets. The thing to note is that with the introduction of the F8 and F7 MK2 into the game, CIG bumping up the power creep significantly. Most medium fighters are currently around 2000 dps and the F7 is now a 3280 dps ship, which is almost a 1300 dps jump over other medium fighters. Currently for pilot only ships the F8 and F7 are top dps. Ships like the Vanguard, Hurricane, and Scorpio fall into the 3200-3400 range but only with a gunner. With full crew the Scorpio wins at 4000 dps. So CIG seems to be looking to make all their previous sales obsolete, unless they refit them with new or more hardpoints. Even bumping existing hardpoints up to S4 on ships like the Sabre or Defender would just bump the dps up to 2560 dps, which is better but still below the 3200 mark the F7 now has. A 600 dps difference is better than the 1300 that is there now.

Save you money or current ships and wait till this fix the MK2's many issues. Not a great ship at this point. Note that when you have 2 energy weapons, they reduce the DPS by about 33%!!! The Rhinos only do 255dps each with power centered. Check out Erkul and you can see it. But I found that it took MANY hits against light NPC fighters...Mustangs and Auroras...to take them down. Flight sucks BAD in any kind of atmosphere...speed and handling. Only 2 size 1 shields is stupid for a medium fighter. Boost is super short. Not a fan at this time...wish I didn't melt my cheaper ship with LTI for this...at this time at least. Hopefully they fix these and several other issues.

Everyone is going to want the F7A, so anyone buying the F7C Mk2 is only buying it for that upgrade. As far as comparing it to the F8C, it's tough to do that because we are about to get MM's and all ships and dogfighting in general is going to change quite a bit. I'd say that now is the worst time to compare any ship's performance.

I have a real problem with how CIG does this. I'm a backer of the game, but I choose to intentionally not play it regularly because 1) I hate dealing with the bugs. 2) I don't want to get burnt out on playing every iteration of the game up until launch and then I'm bored... I want it to still feel new to me in its finished, polished state... The problem with that is I am at a severe disadvantage with everyone that does play, and knows how to do all the missions and such. But now, with them doing these fake FOMO in game events to unlock these kind of upgrades, that they intentionally make overpowered so it forces you to do them, is ridiculous to me.

Yup, all the other earlier ships got their rework pass and they replaced the early versions. Not so for the Hornet. Instead they kept it, sat on it and now are selling it while leaving the now Mk1 to languish in power creep. Way to go Chris, maybe you should become president of EA or Epic.

I really like your content. I don’t like cigs approach to players testing their game. This is Another cash grab. Would be nice to see them doing game player events with rewards that don’t require more money from us. I don’t mind spending an extra 20 or in some cases another 40.00 on expansions or season passes, but, this is ridiculous. And it makes me question if this game is going to be pay to win.

Well to start with, no one is forcing you to buy a new ship, secondly, CIG are pushing group play, that, is the whole point of the 5 grouped missions. They learned from the Golden Ticket event, and thirdly, would you be happy if their were multiple layoffs because of funding........of course not, no one is twisting your arm, its just FOMO

They DO have free rewards during events, multiple times a year. Shoot, I got a free machine gun just for logging into the website during February, and some epic paints during their foundation fest event. I even got my favorite helmet during October just for checking loot boxes. Plus, all future updates, star systems, in game ships, everything.. available to everyone with even a basic game pack. That beats paying for dlc in my book.
