The reason anvil has both the superhornet and hurricane is because the hurricane wasn't actually their design, it belonged to a ship manufacturer they bought up, and they just kept producing it with some modification.

@@Horkruxx That's why I said aside from the missile loadout. I was referring mainly to the overall shape, the twin cannons on the nose which they both share, and the turret they both share, although the Hurricane's is beefier.

I feel that I should remind people that the in game prices of things especially ships are going to increase drastically as the game gets further along in development. The reason the ships are so cheap now is so people can actually afford them given the limited amount of ways to make money in the games current state. Also anything bought with in game money (aUEC) will be reset / removed before the game reaches its “final” form.

The Hurricane now is soooo damn good with the buff to its 2 small shields to 1 medium shield, it can tank even a size 3 missile now, which it couldn't 2 big updates ago, Love it so much now I got it Pledged in LTI :) Edit: I had it as a loaner for the Ares

I am not a fan of the change tbh, it decreased the shield charge from 900 hp/s to 600 hp/s making the full charge time 14 seconds instead of 4. Even if you take the double shields of the medium into account vs the two 1s you are looking at a relative speed of 7 seconds vs 4. This is why ships with a single shield are not that competitive in pvp outside of the Arrow because it is SO small. It is a no brainer to choose regen over capacity any day every day.

I thought the idea was that the Hornet would be a space superiority fighter with good weapons, strong armour a reliable shields and that the Hurricane would be a glass cannon designed with maximum firepower and high speeds in mind. So the Hornet would duke it out with the opposition and the hurricane would pick an approach vector then blitz-it past larger targets doing as much damage as possible with hit-n-run tactics. So I was surprised when you said the Hornets only got size one shields. Do you think bumping one or both of the Hornet's shields to size two would give it the edge it needs?

I think the approach seems to be to scale shield generator size with ship size, and instead double up on smaller components. Eg place multiple size 1 shields. I dunno, a lot of people seem to be holding out for another Hornet rework :(

@@Farrister I know that CIG has implemented certain restrictions on their ship designs in an effort to make them more believable, unique and interesting, like intentionally making it so some turrets have lousy firing arcs or big view obstructing struts in pilots canopies, but I find these design choices often rather frustrating. There is no reason they couldn't build a ship like the Hornet around a beefier power plan and shield generator. What I would like to see is the standard designs being the base loadout that you could then customise. Sort of like Spike Spiegal's Swordfish, which is ostensibly a racer that just had a big honking gun strapped to it.

Unlike the Super Hornet this really needs 2 players. It does make a great "nookie copilot" ship. Let's say your girlfriend, dad, or one of your kids wants to play with you but is not a great pilot. Turrets are basically point a nd click. Very low skill level to operate it and it makes an easy way to get people to play without learning everything.

Once again great review really enjoyed this and found on erkul they upgraded the shielding to a size 2 and the Rampart is the way to go a little higher hp to distortion damage, as well as the AD4B ballistic Gatling guns have 2300 total wow, great set up with the turret with either 4 Omnisky IX with that extra 70 meters of range 1295 or 4 11 series Broadswords with 800 rounds of ammo,or 4 suckerpunch distortion cannons doing 1072 sustained damage or 1350 burst to take down the shields even faster so I use less rounds from the AD4B's very nice found one for sale with LTI for 189 US but don't know if I should just buy it in game,do they plan on a complete wipe for 3.20? thanks again.
