My personal interpretation of the entire series is that it's a sort of gnostic-ish parable wherein Doomguy is a man with his will fixed solely on the Good and with an unfading righteous fury against evil. It doesn't matter if it's a demon or a so-called angel: if it's evil, it will meet the sword. Doomguy is not content with anything less than the Good, or the true God. Yes I'm aware that this is interpretation is very personal and niche, and I don't believe any of it was intended by the creators of Doom, but the whole universe is so pulpy and loose with the lore and there are a lot of gaps one can fill in. So I don't see it as the Doom universe being like our world, but without Jesus being true, but rather a parable that expresses the mystical spiritual theology of Jesus.
