I have a kobra 2 max and N4Max as well and I haven’t had a single major issue with the Neptune. My anycubic has not had a single successful print in the time I’ve owned it, bad belt tensioners out of the box and bad mainboard, now bad motor, anycubic supoort is really trying to make it right though so they get points for that. Update. Refunded the kobra and bought another Neptune 4 max

I have 3 of the Qidi X-Max 3’s. It’s my overall favorite 3d printer so that’s my recommendation. Im currently testing the Creality K2 Plus and so far it’s been great. Printing a large chest armor piece on it now to see how it does with cosplay armor.

Trying to figure out which printer to get to print something like the Mandalorian Specialist Helmet, but I want to scale it up because my head is huge. For an idea of size, does that print on the Neptune 4 with room to spare? Would it print inside that Quidi MAX you mentioned, with scaling room? I just picked up my first printer, the Creality V3 SE, and I'm quickly learning a number of things, such as, it's too small...
@OuterRimArmorer6 ай бұрын
Most Mandalorian helmets I’ve printed have fit on my Qidi X-Max 3. The big helmets prints like Starkiller’s helmets I have to print on the Elegoo Neptune 4 Max. It’s mainly used for full size chest armor but sometimes I print helmets on it too.

yeah I definitely spent a few extra hundreds in upgrades for my neptune 4 max... I have not on my Plus but it prints really well as at stock I have been eyeing the Sovol sv08 but also another Bambu A1 which would be good for my smaller prints I don't have an A1 Mini though and I do still need an AMS

Thanks for the advice and feedback on printers. Nothing like getting it from a guy who prints a LOT! I just picked up my first big FDM printer, the Anycubic Kobra 2 Max. I haven't even owned it a week and I'm thinking seriously about returning it and getting a Qidi Xmax 3. Severely disappointed in it. After some intial print successes, now I only get failed prints, even benchys. If the Xmax 3 is way more reliable and has almost the same build volume, it'd be worth paying almost double the price of the K2M. I know that no 3D printer is perfect, but jeez, failing prints after 2 days of use on a brand-new printer? Ridiculous.

For bed, you need to wash it with soapy water and let it dry. No adhesion issue after. Decent filament makes a big difference to adhesion and hotend blobbing up

Hey, kind sir. I have a question. Have you had issues with PETG sticking to the nozzle, build-ing up and then depositing during print (I see it happens when I print solid infills). So, have you had issues like this and have you found a solution? Thank you!

The Creality K2 is interesting because it's a core-XY with a large build volume, but Creality's reputation for quality and support isn't great. The Qidi Plus-4 just came out, with a larger build volume, but again people seem to have problems with Qidi printers. You seem to have had a good experience with yours, though. Basically, it sounds like we need to just wait until Bambu comes out with a larger build volume printer (if they do). I'm not a Bambu fanboy, but compared to everything else, they seem to have the best support, depth of infrastructure for spares, quality of print, and user experience. If the Neptune 4 Max was as solid and reliable as the A1, for instance, it would be god-like in the FDM sphere. Just can't understand why these other companies keep producing sub-par stuff.

I am pretty much done with my Neptune 4 Max, it is so hit or miss. I just need something that is going to work. It's a means to an end for me, not a lifestyle, lol. Got the big glob of death on my hot end this weekend after 6 months of luck. But even after using a lot of the advice online I still don't get a clean first layer across the entire build plate. Looking at a replacement that I can do bigger stuff. I have a prusa MK3 which is BULLETPROOF, never had any issues over 5 years with it, but the neptune...... damn. I haven't done any of the rail replacement or hardware replacement just tweaks.

Definitely agree on core xy is the way to go. But I have a customer that I think has at least a size 50 chest not sure how that measurement works. and I can’t decide on a 400mm plus size printer to buy. I have it down to three the Elegoo Neptune 4 max, Kobra 2 max and the creality CR M4 that I will put my sonic pad on for klipper.

I have had the same experience with both printers but my Anycubic has given me a hard time one to many times and I haven’t bothered to fix it since the last break. All my Elegoo’s are broken except one and I haven’t bothered to fix them either if that makes you feel any better? I’ve wasted a bunch of money on printers that didn’t last me a year. I’m not impressed with either manufacturer and I don’t know if I would buy another printer from either. Creality is on my do not buy ever again list as well but I made the mistake of ordering the K2 Plus before realizing I probably shouldn’t have. 🤦♂️

No I don’t think the Anycubic is faster than the Elegoo. I print around 200-250mms on both my machines though. Any faster and the print quality decreases. I find the Anycubic auto bed leveling feature much nicer than manually bed leveling. In fact I modified my Elegoo’s to be auto bed leveling like my Anycubic is. I only prefer my Elegoo’s over the Anycubic because I’ve added Linear rails to mine and it’s greatly improved the printer’s performance. Both printers get hotend clogs from the stupid little Bowden tube inside the hotend. You can find bimetal throat for the Anycubic though. Haven’t had much luck finding one for the Elegoo. I did replace my stock Bowden tubes with a Capricorn one that I found on Amazon. That seems to have helped so far. I have a couple 350x350 CoreXY printers in order. If they end up working better, they might replace my Elegoo’s and Anycubic.
