Man this is by far my favorite guitar channel on KZbin. I consider myself an intermediate player, not interested in getting overly technical just wanna be able to play cool shit in genres I like (shoegaze, indie, britpop) and this channel has been consistently delivering for a long time

Agreed. It's nice see a talented player on KZbin consisently dedicated to alternative scenes and not regurgitating the same classic funk/blues/metal players. I mean, I like John Frusciante too, but we don't need everyone's take on his playing...

Never got too far into 80s alternative but Peter Murphy, PIL, and Chameleons UK are personal favorites of mine. Only just today I heard McGeoch’s The Light Pours Out of Me - I had no idea all these years it was anyone’s but Peter Murphy’s. Then a quick look online and holy cow - this McGeoch guy did everything !?!? Hugely talented in my book, and all of you who already knew - you have my utmost respect.

Lovely video. You nailed his live tone. I have two original SG1000’s which I have used to play a few Mcgeoch covers on my channel if anyone’s interested. The original Yamaha SG’s are very heavy, better quality and have coil taps which is also a part of the sound.

Your videos are always so well presented, Adrian! Many thanks for again showcasing the talent that was John McGeogh. Juju is a flawless album &, in my opinion, McGeogh's creative highpoint. The Banshees were blessed with some innovative guitarists, notably the metallic-flanged offerings of John McKay (e.g. Placebo Effect), John McGeogh and John Valentine Carruthers (especially on Tinderbox (92 Degrees, Lands End etc)). Best wishes!

Thanks for this! Never expected to see a Siouxsie and the Banshees lesson on a 'guitar tutorial' type of channel. I've been learning the guitar for the past 20 years and there are two sides to my guitar brain - one side that tries to learn all the blues/jazz stuff (maj7 m7b5 chords, blues licks blah blah blah), and the other side that really loves stuff like Banshees and The Cure, which 'typical' or 'serious' guitarists frown upon because they are unorthodox, 'too simple' or 'rely on effects'. Thank you for showing that both worlds can meet on one KZbin guitar channel. :)
