Again Chris, you make it "work!" I was also confused about the working of the handset, but you have explained it. It's a pity that the manufacturers don't provide such a tutorial. Thank you.

I was interested in this radio, but as the Bluetooth is disabled I'm going to stick with the HD1. The Bluetooth would make the motorbike installation a breeze pairing up with the bluetooth in the helmet. Be interesting to see how they develop the firmware on the 878 and how good the implementation of Bluetooth will be. For now the Ailunce HD1 still gets my vote.

Any tone and HD1 are brilliant in their own right.

I have the whole Brandmeister list of talkgroups in my 868 but i still manually dial all TGs by pressing P1 (programmed for dial) and # for group call. I never bother scrolling to select talkgroup now. The red button i have set for power and voltage. PF1 and 2 is for VFO/Memory and VFO A/B

I love my HD1 for the 360 deg channel selector, VFO and all channels but recently acquired 868 is fantastic. Zone capacity and digital monitor alone are a massive plus along with the function key options. I have no need for the 878 features so it’s really personal preference on which model to buy. I bought a Bluetooth dongle/headset kit which I can use on my TYT as well so a bit of flexibility regards BT

Which would you recommend or suggest between anyone 878, alinco DJ-d5gp or ailuence hd1, please?

I would narrow it down to the 878 or hd1. Hd1 is less expensive. Better battery life. And you do not need to be in a zone. You can sit in a pool of all channels. 878 cost more. And has advanced features shown in the video. Get what you can afford.

Chris Andrews Thank you Chris. The video is very informative thank you. I don’t mind saving for the ‘best’, it is just knowing which is the best or most useful when you have similar radios. Your video and the features you said made me think. Having just got my license reactivated after a few years absent and learning all about digital radio and the different ‘formats’ is some what bewildering even after watching videos such as yours over and over. But that is the fun of the hobby. Cheers G7POQ

Hi Chris, thanks for your videos, waiting for my 878 in two days, excited because of your videos. I have a request. I have a zumspot coming with the new radio. Could you make a video showing how to use the 878 with DRM2YSF for both hotspot and how to add rooms on 878 to then connect to these rooms. Thanks Mate!! 73,

Anytone are great Dmr rigs Chris but I don’t understand why this one is £50 more just for the sake of analogue APRS

The new features are Bluetooth aprs roaming and talk alias. Not sure if you know but 868 version 1.1 can be flashed and turned into an 878. The hardware is the same ,you just need to order the Bluetooth module for 868
