FSTM,,,,;;;;,HELLO DEBBIE AND JOHN, OH, such blooms,this year JUAN BROWNE,OF BLANCORLIO, on YT,flew over the hills all ablaze with flowers, YEARSago,the family drove their truck camper,then used his drone, anytime there is enough moisture,EVERYTHING GROWS,, .Now this trip,you had to cross that stream several times I believe most are there for the greenery & flowers,, ,so I see the palm trees are sparse,as to what it once was ,oh well,there are still some,, till next time,,,,, stay well, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I actually have a Tilley hat and lots of other hats that protect the back of the neck. Might take one this summer as we plan to do much more hiking.

Perfect timing for this video! I'll be coming down from Nor Cal (so tired of the cold temps here). Will be at Palm Campground Tuesday. Can hardly wait. Saw all the water crossings and ran and got my water sandals to put in my day pack.🙂

What are your mats you use to level the van? We need those!!

A few years ago one of our subscribers suggested I make mats out of a horse stall mat. You can check your area to see if anyone has an old mat they are getting rid of. The hard part is cutting them and boy do they stink when they are cut. You can make them any size but they are very heavy. I tried to find the video where I made them but was unsuccessful.

I really enjoyed the Palm Canyon Trail. I was first drawn to it after seeing a magazine showing a spectacular wildflower bloom along the trail.

We are hoping all this rain doesn't flood them out again.

to each their own, but we almost never balance on rocks or fallen trees when crossing water. We either change to river shoes and walk thru, or just wear our shoes/boots thru the water and then walk them warm or dry. Once past the first cool/cold crossing you don't even notice. If on a multi-day trek, just keep that one pair of warm fuzzy socks in a ziplock bag in your backpack for evening and sleeping. This method has served us from the Mojave to the Arctic, even guiding clients. My concern, of course, is falling. An injury can end the day, the trip, or even one's hiking passion. (I see below that water sandals got some mentions.)

Wow! I hiked that Palm Canyon trail in January of 2022 and that stream you kept crossing was a dry wash. What a difference this years rains have made. Beautiful and green, and so many flowers. Are you going to channel Itchy Boots and put out three a week? 😲 I don’t know how she does it! For a while it looked like you were in Morocco.

I have taken a few spills on my gravel grinder in the sand. The beauty is often worth the adventure even when I've had a few tumbles that lead to some briar & 🌵 where the sun dont shine.. Fortunetly I've always been able to laugh at myself and ride on. BTW, perhaps I missed an update.... whatsup w/the future Humble Ride?

What a beautiful palm grove, it’s always exciting to see water in these types of places that’s for sure. Boy the sand ride would of been fun and hard it gave you both a bit of a work out. Thank you for sharing your hike & bike adventure with us. I look forward to your offerings every week. Have you ever explored the south side of Anza-Borego? More specifically Goat Canyon Trestle? Great bike adventure. Pull out Google maps: About a ten mile round trip bike ride from Dos Cabezas Rd, start about half a mile northwest of the famous Dos Cabezas water tank. Cross the tracks and follow the tracks west up the wash about a mile until you hit the tracks on the other side, then follow them south to the trestle. Much easier than the ride you just finished in this video. I look forward to your video if you do it. God Bless!

Deinitely Itchy Boots territory. I didn't see any airing down of tires though. Ha, ha whipped cream on the chocolate chip cookies...of course! Isn't it amazing to see what the force of water can do to a landscape. The rain this year has really changed the path of rivers and streams. We talked to the guy in the jeep at the top. He had planned to turn back when he saw the hill but we convinced him it was doable. And then we heard him bottom out and I felt badly that I might have been the cause of a breakdown. We're going to do that ride again next year. If you have any other washes you've down out there that you think we could do on our bikes, let me know.
