I agree about fines for no shows! Both for public campgrounds and private. It’s a big problem and a real bummer for those of us who are turned away for no reason. Frustrating for campground mgmt too.

There should be an automatic $100 fine charged to the reservation credit card for each night of no show. There is plenty of time before, even on the day of, arrival to call and cancel. Maybe you can do a video solely on this topic to create some inertia. BTW: perhaps you should have added a Content Warning for when John showed off his legs. Otherwise, great video!

What they really need to do is offer a full refund to anyone who cancels before 3pm on their arrival day. People don’t bother to cancel because they get so little money back due to cancellation fees.

Will your next van use propane so that you can continue using your Omnia oven?

Do you know if the omnia oven works on an induction cooktop? (it needs to be magnetic.)
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe Жыл бұрын
No, it definitely does not. It really needs the flame of a gas burner. Although, another viewer told me that there is a plate you can put on an induction burner and then put a non magnetic pan on it. I think better than doing that is to pick up a small gas stove. They are nice to have in case of a malfunction in your system and also just for emergencies at home in case your power goes out. Ours works on both propane and butane canisters: www.amazon.com/shop/fromshetome/list/MZPF9YWCIT1V?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d

The pop top (Sportsmobile) is what I plan for my GMC (If I ever get it) so I can get under low places like a drive thru and pop it up when staying a night. Stayed at Furnace Creek campground right after they renovated it. Was a nice place. Dust and winds are okay, scorpions not! Haven’t been to the Pinnacles since 2008! Guess I need a Owens Valley region trip! Thanks for the adventure! Trona is a scary town! 😂 See any Desert Tortoises? Ah, China Lake and many trips there over the years!

Enjoyed your video. We were at Death Valley in early December. After watching the sunset at Dante’s View, we camped along Furnace Creek Wash Road toward the ghost town of Greenwater. Another great video. So glad you take the time to do these. Just returned from a trip to New Brighton State Park in Santa Cruz. Our daughter lives in Santa Cruz so go there often. This time the website showed 0 available after we reserved ours but I would guess that 80% of the sites were vacant. Usually between 20 and 30% are vacant over the last 5 visits. I would like to propose you query your followers to see what other states do. Then solicit ideas. Agree on the best one and promote your fans to write letters to the state parks chief. Since we are Californians we could start here. I'd be up for whatever leg work would be required.

I’m not aware of any states that have figured out how to deal with no shows. But lots of camp hosts have shared their frustration with the situation. It’s gotten worse now that so many parks are requiring registration. But I’ll try to query folks in a future video.

I have several different brands. Pearl Izumi is one. They’re just cycling gloves but you can also get fingerless gloves at the hardware store or in weight lifting sections of sporting goods stores. Just find some that fit you well. You could definitely use them for driving.

Check out the Indio/ Coachella area. There are some stellar mosaic canyons/ rock formations and hiking. There's a hike called Ladder Canyon/ Painted Canyon that's a little sketchy, but worth it. Just be aware of the conditions; no cell service, watch the weather (prone to flash floods), and super sandy so be mindful of how heavy your rig is/ where you're driving. Just stick to the main road and you'll be fine. BLM camping in Box Canyon
