Ia the 54 comparable to a Original Wayfarer in 54? The 54 Wayfarer is my perfect size but the nose bridge gets too narow towards the top and got some air between my nose and the the bridge which doesnt look great. The nose bridge on the Saratoga doesnt seem so narrow on the top

Since they’re based on the same original design they should be comparable but I’ve never had the original wayfarer 54 to compare with. The Saratoga does have a nice open bridge design though that tends to be rather comfortable and forgiving.

Hey pal what are you seeing there on the bridge? Is the bridge uneven?

Correct. Take a look at the way light passes over the bridge, hard to see in video but it just amounts to a minor WC thing that in just not use to seeing passed with the products I generally work with. 😬🫣 Now with Europa (owning company of AO) being bought up by private equity, it’s only gonna get worse sadly. I had really high hopes for the future of this collection, those hopes go down more and more every year.

Thanks for the sub!! Etnia I haven’t touched in a couple of years, and with their recent growth I can’t honestly evaluate their current production. What I can say is prior to 2019 it presented an incredible value in the sub $300 territory. Next to that Maui Jim has some real gems in their collection (Joy Ride immediately comes to mind). Third to that I’ll let Revo have a flag as a rock bottom bargain if you watch for their sales, you can get an incredible glass lens for under $150 if you wait - and that’s why we don’t work with them much any longer, exhausted with them selling direct to clients for less than they charge me wholesale. Can’t survive in business that way! As an alt to all of these if you like classic styling Serengeti is amazing as well but pushes the budget a little more north. The only reason I don’t carry them is because they’re customer service when I reached out was below 0. I even had friends reach out to their reps to get contact and they STILL didn’t follow up to open the account 😂🥶

I really liked the design of the AO Saratoga, but unfortunately heard that they can sometimes be defective and your video here provided some evidence to that. Now if you were pressed to choose between those four aforementioned brands which would you select based on quality alone?

I couldn’t. Because all of those are relatively produced at a massive scale style by style decisions need to be made. There are some absolute trash in each of those brands. Until you get into small batch production ($600+) it’s really hard to say “anything from this brand is a really good choice” :). Of course it also matters how much you “sweat the small stuff”.

The 52 is like a Rolex Day-Date 36 mm, while the 54 is like a Rolex 40mm. The 52 is classic.
