Don't forget that TSM and Spark have also made 1/43 scale versions of Rexy! And they are amazing. Right now, TSM (1/18, 1/43, and 1/64) are making the GT3R variant. While Spark (1/43 and 1/64) has been making the GT3 RSR variant of Rexy. And Hotwheels.. well, they do whatever they do 🤣 I just recently posted a video about licensing in general. I'm so tired of all these unlicensed models floating around.

A knock-off is a counterfeit product, it is not the same as unlicensed. If someone in China were to make fake Mini GT models and tried to sell them as the genuine article, that be a knock-off. Knock-offs are usually a cheaply made or less good copy of a popular or high quality one - fake Rolex watches being one we all know. Unlicensed is when you don't get permission from a car manufacturer to use their copyright that is intellectual property. A while a go, a British diecast manufacturer called Corgi released a LA Sheriff Department helicopter. In no way was Corgi's helicopter cheaply made or a knock-off of another diecast manufacturer's product. The problem was, Corgi did not think to get a license from the LA Sheriff Department. All of Corgi's helicopter models were confiscated when they arrived in America. I'm not saying what the unlicensed brands is right in what they're doing because - Rexy ain't happy about it. You do need to be clear in what is a knock-off and what is unlicensed. You can still have unlicensed models that are better in quality and accuracy than licensed ones - it's just legally, they maybe in the wrong.

@modelcarshouston you can face major fines and even get shut down for selling counterfeit products when you have a legit store front. I was just at a show in Houston, TX, and he was telling me about it. Just like with your video, they have people watching out for the fakes. Got secret shoppers, too.
@ivanbima58773 ай бұрын
They are promoted for a reason. When they really putting the effort into their casting, they really have great quality and details. But yeah, they fell short on licenses. That's part of the reason why they kept changing names to avoid copyright lawsuit

IXO may get the AO license eventually, but I don't think they will anytime soon as they already have TSM and Spark making the models. And those 2 brands alone cover 1/64, 1/43, and 1/18

Now don't get me wrong, license is crucial but it's getting into soy territory. Brands you listed are from Aliexpress and are usually made for different demographic, meaning they won't be in US anyway. Also it's just free advertising, they pasted dinosaur skin over porsche and now it's everywhere. Also many unlicensed brands go into right direction if they get the momentum. Look at CM Model they used to be a knockoff brand. And lastly, if you just follow license, collectors would be missing a lot of amazing stuff. I mean if you love your license stickers that's totally ok, but many people are in for cars, and telling them "look guys this is awesome there is a Porsche license sticker how cool is it" is kinda not it, since license doesn't mean it will be accurate or build with quality. I hope I didn't sound too negative I know it's a content for you.
@aoracingusa3 ай бұрын
@@qwerty975 What you call free advertising is actually theft. These knockoff brands are making hundreds of thousands of dollars off of something that belongs to us. That money could have been spent at our store, and maybe even help keep the race program going, or fund more of our free fan-focused efforts.

They can still buy all these unlicensed livery no matter what if they're licensed or unlicensed, a diecast is still a diecast and they're more valuable to them
