Hi Tara! Ya for sure, it's been yonks! Class channel you have going! I just watched your video on living and building in Ireland! Myself and my wife are struggling with all that craic at the mo. Disaster. But your thought on it were great, nicely covered and got me thinking. And the new Orchid one, savage altogether how you link in the irish and the history. Class stuff. I'm still down in Clare myself. Still tipping away with the music. How about yourself? Singing away?

@@aodancoynemusic the odd bit of singing, but moreso recording trad for the documentaries I make, need every extra penny for the renovation fund 😅 Twas actually on my fella's home page I came across your channel, he's a savage guitarist too and he really likes your channel! I'll give you a shout if we find ourselves down Clare way this summer. Same phone number?

Hello from Dayton! Can't wait to see y'all at Celtic Fest. I'm a relatively new guitarist and am trying to get a grip on DADGAD. My guitar is pretty old and I'm in the market for a new one. Any recommendations on what to look for? I play a lot of fingerstyle guitar and Irish tunes.
@aodancoynemusic Жыл бұрын
Hi Steven! Mighty stuff, yes we'll be back in Dayton this year. Really looking forward to it. Regards guitars, you can't go wrong with a Taylor really. I've been touring with the GSmini for the past few years, cheap and cheerful and very handy to get onto planes. But the 214ce is a step up from there for a better acoustic sound. My wife plays a Martin 000 series which is great too. Then you can could go all out with a Mcilroy which I play in this video. It's custom made, here's the website: mcilroyguitars.co.uk/ Hope that helps and enjoy diving into DADGAD!

Great video! I've got a question. When I play in DADGAD without a capo, everything sounds great. Once I put that blasted capo on, though, everything gets knocked out of tune and sounds like a screaming cat. Do I need a new guitar (or some new strings)? Thanks, I love the content!
@aodancoynemusic Жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, sorry about the very slow delay in reply. I've been away on tour and just catching up on things now. Ya, it can depend on the guitar your playing. There's can often be small intonation issues with capo use... But it shouldn't get completely thrown out of wack though, so that sounds like a guitar issue to me. Maybe bring it into a guitar luthier and see if they can do anything to help, might just be a truss rod issue that can be fixed. Hope that helps, glad you like the content. I'll try keep it up!

Hi Aodan, I’ve been looking for a tutorial on Lord Franklin by Kevin Burke and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill but can’t seem to find one. Be great if you could do a lesson on that

Hi Cian, very sorry about the long delay in reply. I was away on tour and just catching up on things now. I actually hadn't heard of that song before. But I'm here listing to it and it's great. I'll put it on the to-learn list, and if I get around to making a tutorial video I'll let you know. Thanks for telling me about it.

Do you have a tutorial for Monaghan jig?
@aodancoynemusic Жыл бұрын
How are ya Kevin. I don't have a tutorial done for the Monaghan jig yet, but I'll stick it on the to do list 👍 For the moment here's a link to 'Dulahan Ireland', Joe seems to be muting the low string while playing an E drone chord with X79900. But if you stick the capo on the 2nd fret in DADGAD you can open up that low string 079900. Try follow along with his chord progressions then and you'll get a good feel fro the tune kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5TcYp2Nob2ni5I
