So is this really the last video he made ?? He was such an incredibly good musician, composer, teacher ...person. Eventhough I never met him and didn't know him personally it feels like having lost a friend. Rest in peace Al aund keep on playing - wherever you are now!

Like this lesson very creative and allows for some just kicking it around to get a feel and then see if I can it and run with it. Very cool sounds. Thanks!

Thanks for this!!! As we age, it is great to see people reinventing their technical approach to the instrument in order to continue to express themselves through the instrument! Also, while being a doctor myself, I wholeheartedly concur with your reconsidering what your doctor advised you to give up. I once turned down chemo and radiation for a cancer because the cost and risk did not justify the means. But I had the technical understanding to best weigh the pros and cons in the context of my personal values. Doctors who fail to talk to their patients are like "no use at all"!!! People have their sense of personal meaning that every doctor needs to be aware of in order to provide them with care for their body and mind. We've got to re-humanize medicine. It's like those olympians who are told they will never ski again after they fracture their spines. When something means so much to you, you must try to find a way to continue before you simply completely redefine yourself. Of course, you may be crazy...in which case, I suppose you'll find out soon enough.

Al is always full of joy and love of music! He is also very inspiring. I agree that aging is the craps and looking for ways to continue our love of music while our elbows and fingers hurt is a nice goal. Father Time is undefeated, but I refuse to quit playing... I look forward to the next lesson Al! Thanks, John Gig Harbor, WA

This is really good stuff, I would be interested in how this idea can be applied to the Mixolydian mode.
