There is a very interesting story behind how the Aztecs (who spoke Nahua) and Spanish were able to communicate. It centers around a Nahua woman called Malintzin, also known as La Malinche in Mexican folklore. Originally from the gulf coast in what is now Veracruz, she was sold to the Mayan speaking rulers in Tabasco, where she learned Mayan dialects. This allowed here to communicate with the Spanish friar Jeronimo de Aguilar, who was also enslaved when he was shipwrecked on the Yucatan. Both were given to Cortes by their captors when he started his conquest of Mexico. From de Aguilar, Malintzin learned Spanish. She would later become Cortes's interpreter, and even have a child with him. She is an instrumental figure in the conquest of Mexico, and I'm not really doing justice to either her story or de Aguilar's story here in this quick summary I wrote.

Additionally, Jeronimo de Aguilar was one of only 2 people in the ENTIRE world who spoke and Old world language(Mayan) and a new world language(Spanish), and they basically found him totally by chance as he was stranded. So Cortez had a LOT of luck.

This mission! what an amazing challenge - haha! You did not bother to save Tabasco - the orange ally! They are useless ally's but there is a steam achievement to get in you protect them. Its insanely challenging. This is what i did to save Tabasco - Take 2 villagers and 5 Eagle Scouts to Tabasco. - Create a Dock ASAP! - Use the Eagle Scouts to take out that Battering Ram that comes to destroy the Tabasco Town center. - Create 3 fire ships - The Spanish Elite Cannon Galleons are crazy - insane fast boulders from its mouth. But My 3 fire ships annihilate them. There were 5 of them and all were taken care of. - Once u get rid of the Cannon Galleons, Rams and Initial wave of Blue - Spanish Conquistadors, then Red will attack our ally with Archers, Skirmichers etc We need to keep them at bay too. Build couple of Castles near Tabasco. Lots of stone at your base. I just walled off my base and all the action was in the Tabasco - orange area! That gave ample time to boom and then take out red with Arbalests, Trebs. Once Red is done , taking out the Spanish was okay. But man the start was brutal and stressful! Loved it though - an amazing side quest for extra challenge!

Was it on hard, or? ... with multiple restarts and even I take out 1st galeon they still bring 2 from south...

What I find infuriating is that they don't let you convert enemy cannon galleons in this mission, it would have been so much fun in this mission just as it was in the Jean of Arc scenarios. When the Cannon Galleon I converted exploded instead of switching to my side all I could think was, *_"NO FUN ALLOWED."_* Also, the Spanish fortifications demand you defeat their entire base to extract the horses, which defeats the point of the horses. *EDIT: **28:58* Um, what?! They're supposed to have Heresy, I tried converting Cannon Galleons as my opening move and Ornlu is converting them in the late game ON HARD.

This was a fun one. After finishing the tlax, i a built a couple docks, max out my ship tech, then on the main river built fire ships and when those beautiful cannon gallys reared there gloriously annoying cannons, i burnt them down, was torture watching you run around fighting cortez base with them shooting you in the back.

As for "Hot and Spicy": I did send all my villagers up to Tabasco and build a monastery. After that i garrisoned them into their TC. I then used the monks to convert the cannon galeons. At 16min the spanish ai had no c.galeons left while the mighty azetc did have an armada which made destroying the spanish pretty easy. They'll go for heresy if you convert enough units, which is actually good since they waste quite a lot of gold. That strat took me only three tries.

@@michaelvarguez953 The enemy does not start (or atleast they did not start) with heresy. So you have a few minutes to do that. They will however go for it pretty fast

Ah, I tried building a castle and TC near that gold and stone deposit next to the shallows. I was IMMEDIATELY attacked by rams, trebs, bombard cannons, petards, eagle warriors, crossbowmen, and bafflingly a wild jaguar. ...I gotta work on my eco boom, apparently.

You can, but the Spanish are soffocating, mate. At one point I questioned myself if the Spanish lived in Tabasco or Tabasco was being invaded by the Spanish :/

This achievement must be a pain in this ass (never tried to get it). But the Noryang point is also impossible. At the beginning the Japanese have 7 canon galions and they snipe the wonder. You can't save it with your navy that you get at the start of the game. I made some tests and architecture > byzantine bonus. The buildings are destroyed quicker with byzantine bonus than with architecture.

The aztects were basically "What if the Waffen SS death squads created a country", they brutally sacrificed children on a regular basis for demon worshiping and they were warmongers who constantly massacred anyone in their path.
