Zoro isn't open to everyone, but when he DOES make a connection he is by far the most loyal. Which is why his dream is actually not just a dream, it's a promise, his ambition isn't just born from him. If he can't become the greatest swordsman then he would be going back on his word. And that's against his nindo, his ninja- I mean his code as a swordsman. Failing to achieve being the greatest swordsman would almost be a betrayal of his friend in Zoro's mind

First off, that overtaken Wano remix in the background is a banger. Secondly, I believe that Zoros superman complex makes sense with his ambition because I take Zoro as the kind of person that wouldn't want to reach the top in the safest, most cowardly way. He wants to be someone that can reach the top head on, however he wants to. Someone truly strong, a man capable of being the very best, shouldn't die to anything in Zoros eyes. If he died to anything on the way, no matter how reckless he is, then that would just mean, in Zoros mind, that he never had the potential to reach the top in the first place. Otherwise, I can't deny that most people in the community seem to call Zoro a shallow character, but I personally think you really have to read without ever stopping to think to get that impression. I fully agree on Zoro being protective of his crew and finding a lot of purpose in that role. There are multiple scenes just from memory that immediately pop into my head which showcase this. I mean, just look at all the times he jumped in to protect Robin alone. And when Luffy messed up on the roof, who carried him around while dodging 2 Yonko for 10 minutes? Zoro. I could ofc go on, but that would be repetitive and pointless. About my interpretation of Zoros complex above. I still think I am correct, but ever since Zoro built a bond with Luffy and with the crew as a whole, what I described applies to the crew. If he can't reach his goal while also protecting everyone, then he thinks that he was not a man capable of reaching his goal in the first place. He needs to do it in his perfect way, or he won't be satisfied regardless of anything else. In the end, Zoro is the kind of man that can't bear anyone innocent getting hurt in his vicinity if he could have helped it. He is a truly kind man.

I think there’s a connection between ashura and enma. To be reborn as an ashura means to be constantly reminded how much better life would have been if you had been reborn in a heavenly realm instead of Ashuradō. In some Buddhist traditions, the realm of ashura is considered to be the lowest level of heaven, and gets included among the “happy” rebirths. However, because ashura are so controlled by their emotions, it is almost impossible for them to achieve enlightenment, become buddhas, and escape the cycle of endless reincarnation. Souls who are reborn here are usually humans who lived good lives up to a point, but committed some wicked deed which prevents them from being reborn in the realm of heaven, sounds like Zoro! Enma is known as the king of hell, rescinding in the realm of Jigoku, one of six realms of Buddha. Enma’s chief duty is to judge the souls of the newly dead and send them on to their next location. Enma may seem fearsome and terrifying, at heart, he is a kind and compassionate god, and he truly wishes to save each soul from damnation, this may be why the souls of the dead are given so many tests and trials to avoid going to hell. Zoro recently remarked that enma is testing him, maybe to end the cycle of ashura reincarnation and move Zoro to the realm of Tendo. Tendo is the realm of heavenly beings filled with pleasure; they hold godlike powers; some reign over celestial kingdoms; most live in delightful happiness and splendor; they live for countless ages, but even the They belong to the world of suffering (samsara) for their powers blind them to the world of suffering and fill them with pride and thus even they grow old and die; some say that because their pleasure is greatest, so too is their misery. Basically Zoros will is Ashura and through test from enma the king of hell will accept his will allowing him to pass to the heavenly realm, which is where wado ichimonji will come into play. The definition of the sword is “Straight line through the path of harmony.” Its similar to the realm of Tendo and with Zoro mastering these realms will gain ashura for an extended period of time and later when he makes wado black will gain clairvoyance similar to Mihawk in his battle with shiryu.

Great job bringing up Zoro's character development. Luffy is vocal about his wish to protect the crew but Zoro shows it through action, I believe both would do anything to protect not only each other but the crew. Can't wait for him to come back from his slumber with the angel of death.

I slept on one piece for a very long time cuz the art style didn't appeal to me, but after I started diving into it I really loved the story and especially humor. Zoro is great but my favorite is Sanji, mostly cuz I was a chef for almost 20 years and I could relate to a chef who is obsessed with women lmao

Great Vid, that Superman complex the way I see it is Zoro doesn’t mind more burdens because they make him stronger. It’s like Luffy telling Sanji that he can’t be pirate king without him. Zoro cannot be the Greatest swordsman if he can’t protect the people/Crew he wants. If the Crew can not achieve there dreams to Zoro he can reach his dream. It’s because he carries his dream, Kuina’s, Luffys, Namis, Ussop, Robin, Brook, franky, chopper, and now Jinbies dreams that make his dream impressive, because he must help protect all these peoples dreams first. Then His Dream can be full filled. He may even gain more dreams to protect if he finds out about his lineage, and connection to wano and its people. Protector is very much a good descriptor of Who Zoro is.

Zoro hasn't had much development in about 400 chapters and at least that much is true, but his writing from start to timeskip is absolutely peak. I have really high hopes that we'll get an actual character arc for him in Wano
