I remember that Ashley Bouder was an exceptional dancer since she was a little girl performing at the Hershey Theater in central PA. She would take her bows after her awesome, joyful, and energetic performances with friends at Central PA Youth Ballet. Then on exiting with a huge grin, she'd leap and give a delicate but gentle kick just for show in glee before slipping behind the curtain, so much fun! Pennsylvania was fortunate that Ashley was able to go to NYC, develop her art, and share her talents and dance gifts with the world. Bravo! Kathy Murray Leisure, MD

ah such humble roots, that is not the house of a rich family, but good for her she had the drive to make her goal happen, and had a really generous teacher from the looks of it, its inspiring, though dance is not cheap, sometimes dreams do come true. But on a side note I think she has neat deep blue eyes and I like the gray costume looks very refined like a prep school, and loved the fast swinging footwork very classical balancine, something I just dont often see even the NYCB do much of at times, it is nice on the eyes challanging to execute and looks a little on the sexy side but not too racy, gets your attention more then the classic classic ballet. but all in all this series really shows the humanity of the dancers, and a little of how they look at things in their mind as well as the early influances they had when they talk about their journey, that they are extraordnary athletic artists, but they are still approachable and not like some of the upper 1 % that have an aire of unapproachabillity to them, or ceo's of a buisness.

Along with that - she keeps herself grounded. She doesn't have this attitude "oh I got the scholarship and I'm better than you, I achieved principal and I'm better than you". And I love her determination - when she wants something she goes and gets it. But it's not handed to her on a silver platter - she works her butt off to get it.
@manga12
@manga12 9 жыл бұрын
choirkitty many have to do just that, but some come from rich families and get things handed to them after the best trainning, from privet tutors, or at least upper middle class families. but dance it hard it tears your joints and body apart, but you have to start with a good foundation as Ashley says about her dance school, and going for it,.

Ashley is clearly talented and an overachiever, which is very admirable. But I sense a coldness about her, not an innocent warmth and friendliness that I feel when listening to Sarah Mearns and Teresa Reichlen. These ladies are also overachievers, but they seem more patient and tolerant, people I could see myself being friends with. I guess different strokes for different folks

No. Will power alone did NOT get her where she is. I really hate to contradict her, but this is one of my pet peeves. It doesn’t matter how much will you exert, if you’re a 15 year old girl, 6’0” tall and 180 pounds, you can just keep pushing that huge boulder all you want, but you’re NOT getting it up that hill, and you would NEVER have been offered that scholarship! Bouden had will, but she also had the correct body, the correct training, and the correct understanding of music, or she would NEVER HAVE MADE IT!!! So stop saying that, people....it’s just too ignorant for words.

I would actually argue against Ashley have the “ideal” ballet body. She is compact, shorter legs, a lot more muscular/athletic build than many ballerinas, and I’m sure she’s been wrongfully criticized for that.
@sharleneyyy4689
@sharleneyyy4689 2 жыл бұрын
She is totally right, if you want something and you are willing to fight for it, you will get there. You definitely will not get there without trying. Do you think she naturally had correct technique, etc? No she worked for it. Ballet is not easy, everything takes hard work and half the time its mental. If you say you can't do it then don't bother, you have to believe in yourself.
@therobin980
@therobin980 2 жыл бұрын
@@sharleneyyy4689 you didn't even try to understand their point. The point of their comment is not that working hard doesn't do anything and that Ashley doesn't deserve where she is now. The point is that hard work alone will not always get you where you want to be. That's reality, there sometimes are things out of our control that might keep us from achieving what we want no matter how hard we work for it. You can work hard and believe in yourself while still being realistic.
