I think when they say "all new" Chinese pantheon, they're strongly signalling to us that they've redesigned the Chinese pretty much from the ground up. They just don't want to say that, because it would be admitting that the Tales of the Dragon pantheon was bad.

I didn’t play this dlc. The chinese pantheon had to be a total mess. I only saw the chinese Titan and i thought that he didn’t really Look like a mythical creature. It was just a human with horns 😄

@@arix3083 there are a lot of problems with Tales of the Dragon, and the graphics are the _least_ of it. Which says a lot, because as you say, the graphics are bad. Partly, they're bad because the developers who worked on it-SkyBox-didn't have the ability to create new game assets, only to reskin existing models. So some Chinese myth units are literally just reskins of other older myth units. But that could be ignored if the game itself were good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. There were game-breaking bugs in the new campaign (which also had a story that was not well-received). The civ's units were terribly balanced, partly from bad design, partly from bugs. And its civ design was criticised for not feeling unique and distinctive enough. It's all-round bad.

To be fair, that entire "DLC" was outsourced and the original dev team basically had no say. Everyone and their grandma knew it was bad they just didn't want to throw anyone under the bus.

It really looks great. One thing I’m hoping for is a bit of a pop cap rework. The original felt like I couldn’t mass units like I can in AOE.

The fact that they CLEARLY watched Giant Grant's 3 hour retrospective on the original lowkey gives me a lot more confidence in this game It gives me hope that they'll actually greatly improve on the game's alredy great foundation.

On Xbox, the villager priority system allows you to turn it off, and also to create custom priority wheels on the fly, which is very handy. I've never used the prebuilt priorities, but I've constantly created custom distributions.

I was skeptical on how well the artstyle would translate to visual clarity, but seeing footage of the campaign has me a lot more excited. It looks REALLY GOOD. Like they just took the old maps and gave them a facelift and I mean that in a good way.

I just realized that they can perfectly make the "Wonder" age specifically for players to be able to build Wonders at + the cheaper god powers. Cause in Campaign you do not really need to build wonder like ever, but in MP and custom scenarios, people will eat that so hard. Very cool i like it. I am curious if the fifth age has a new look to the civilization buildings too btw, perhaps effect around them or straight out more grand look if that is even possible. o_O Bros will be all coated in gold x D

Is it just me or is it sort of concerning that they first mention "Skirmish", "Campaign" etc. and just in a sidenote by Ernest the multiplayer is addressed? I need ranked gameplay to enjoy this game longterm... FitzBro any thoughts?

Why cant we have a Modern Pantheon DLC. Jesus, Vishnu, and the Buddha team up to take on like, idk, we could explore other cultures gods and deities like African gods, or South American Gods. The scope for this game eventually is endless, and full credit to the devs for keeping the original spirit of AOM alive.

Just gonna point out OG AoE3 had the animal physically fattening up in game mechanic. Just like how it has six ages over retold AOM 5. Nothing innovative here. Kappa 😏 But for reals the new Wonder Age sounds wonderfully chaotic. I'm low key excited for it 😈

Not a huge fan of the UI. I am so used to the UI in Aoe4 where everything I needed to pay attention to is at the bottom left corner. But I guess overall its fine.

Personally I hope it has a lobby option for autoqueue allowed and autoqueue disallowed. Casual play can have autoqueue, ranked no autoqueue imo.

Auto que is way more fun than staring wildly at the 40 food is it 50 yet? can I click the villager button again? Is it a skill level technically yes but making 50 of the same builder is the dullest part of the game. I'd much rather look at scouting or combat

@@Ballistic-vn6em no, sold well does not mean successful. At least not in creating a good game. Look COD. I personally do not like at all aoe4, sc2. Both are bad games imo. Not fundamentally bad in themselves, they are playable. But they are not great games by any means. Nothing like sc1 aom aoe2 etc. There is just something in great titles that is missing in a lot of games nowadays.
