In an alternate timeline, I just played the same matchup last night where I stole the Freyr’s 3rd TC location and put a citadel on it. He sent a nuclear bomb that blew up my army, family, and 90% of my production

I play 100% Ra and have over 100 ranked games now. Lack of scouting options early on is crippling. Compare it to any other Pantheon and they have almost full map coverage before you have a priest ready to leave your base unless you want to sacrifice empower benefits. Ra has virtually no way to pressure before migdol unless you go full in on barracks units which are weak early on and cannot do any damage to buildings that are defended in any way. If you make it to migdol via fast TC, Ra actually has a strong boom with double rain and selling wood in the market, but it’s tricky to get there and stay alive, especially against any pressure. Bonus round: - Sphinx are terrible and naturally countered by the other 3 pantheons. Team wadjet all day (also weak) - no access to meteor or valley of the kings. But Osiris is Chad anyway so must pick. - Locust swarm on farms via a roc fly by is actually pretty good but situation. Problem is the other guy has some game changer god power like flaming weapons or restoration so.. what would you prefer. Stick with it Ra boys, the rain will dry and our time in the sun is coming 🌈 🌧️ Update: Ra’s number 1 now LFG Ra boys!! 🦅 ☀️

You don't actually have a lack of scouting in retold. You build monument first, even before graniary. Then empower it. So you can send priest out from the beginning like isis or sett. So yes, you lose a bit of value, but honestly it is so little ( with 70% of 20% bonus makes it 6% bonus loss so around 60 food loss overall on archaic age for scouting. It is worse it to scout, i think it is how ra works in retold and why they did the empower monument thing for early ra scouting. By going up to the classical age, i make myself a second priest for scouting, which will be for sure useful for fighting or empowering later on. I then find myself to have plenty of vision on the map.

And if you are not willing to sacrifice just a bit of your bonus value to scout early, then you are asking for too much like come on.

@@alexisbelfer7881 you notice the difference between setting your pharaoh on the granary and setting him on the monument. It may not be the biggest deal in the world, but if you want a 4:00m age up you need to have him on there. Other pantheons don’t require a sacrifice of resources like that.

@@codyestes6596 What do you think of going mass farms in Classical Age with an upgrade (plough or something), then using the rain to get you INTO the Heroic, and another fast Rain when in Heroic. With the Berry buff for Ra, he might not need to go for any hunt except the first one close to home, making his food gathering up until Heroic Ultra safe. As a Ra player back in the day, i always found that even Ra's benefits with migdol units, elephant spam was always a bit too underwhelming, and resource taxing to immediately spam them... but with a sizeable farm economy established mid classical Age - Mid Heroic Age, AND a Double rain, and a small pivot to gold, you can actually support a Pretty fast elephant spam that wasnt possible in O.G AoM. What your thoughts on this?

@@codyestes6596 Well i go with 4:15, though i could with 4:00 too. As i said, you just lose 60 food (55 more precisely) for early scouting. I think the price is worth it.

the age up to tier 4 was stopped for kittenclaw because he made the citadel, they changed it in the recent patch though to not stop the age up

In Legacy Locust Swarm was a nightmare to deal with. It MELTED villagers and instantly destroyed farms.

The big thing i dont get about ra pro players is that with fruits buff is faster to gather them than hunt cause y dont lose time killing animals and no one seems to do it

Rain should prevent other god power activation within its duration ( thats how it worked back then ) which will make it pretty good offensively and defensively

I feel like Ra needs to go all infantry. Ptah into Sekhmet into Horus. You get 7 infantry upgrades plus the cheap farms with Shaduf which makes rain more worth it. Plus none of those gods have MU's that cost gold.

@Tomil4444 but with no Thoth to choose at mythic, can you really maximise that bonus? Also it's one of the few civ bonuses that you can't use until Heroic. You can get killer infantry upgrades at all ages with Ptah, Sehkmet and Horus, plus the cheap farms from Ptah. I mean, definitely sprinkle in some migdol units, but I've been running with 80% infantry with Ra and having a lot of success.

i feel like ra players are picking all the wrong minor god combinations and thats why theyre losing lol. If you wanna go horus sekhmet then stack it with ptah infantry upgrades. Going bast and horus gives you 2 melee myth units that do the same exact thing, you get nothing new from avengers if you already have hieracosphynxes.

Yup Also people have successfully spammed super upgraded divine slingers, and it has not been nerfed as far as i know. No idea why that is not being used here, they basically counter 90% of all units a Norse could make

They have two build order where Ra could be terrifying. First is the slinger with Ptah, Sekhmet and Horus where you made with Ra bonus of empowerment (Pharaoh and... Priest) where the cheap Egyptian infantry became absolutely terryfing with somme myth unit. Second build order Bastet, Sekhmet and Osiris why? Because you going to upgrade your camel and chariot archer very efficiently and also Mummy is a good. Unit and you can have a second pharaoh and have son of osiris. For the Ra meta with empowerment it's crazy because you have a mighty son of horus on the battlefield and in the back an other Pharoah who help to spam unit... People play with study what the civ or the God offer really. P.s :I have a deeply affection for Ra but I stay for Isis who stay the more the most versatile and flexible. Annubis, Nephtys, Thot or Osiris, only good option.

@@lemoinecopiste1691 I prefer sobek over sekhmet for your second build, it makes your camel riders super-potent and gives you more power to your buildings which easens up your turteling to age 4 to get osiris+camels. I dont think sekhmet upgrade gives enough to the chariot archers to justify that camel upgrade from sobek

​@@Tomil4444 Ra basically is bad versus anything. Egyptians are (by far) the weakest civ right now. Only thing that has carried Isis (and to an lower extend Set) was the good path Bast->Nephtys->Thoth with its Ancestors+Eclipse timing, Meteor timing, and Valley of Kings follow-up (basically gets you free double production of one empowered Migdol). All of which have been nerfed significantly now. So, not the best time to play Egyptian right now. At some point they will need to buff the Egyptian army, most of all the Migdol units. Just no way around it. Heroic is where the big power spike of Eggy is supposed to be and funnily it hits like a wet noodle 😂. It's pretty obvious and basically has been stated by all content creators and high-level players alike. I think the reason it hasn't been fixed yet is because it will take some bigger changes and the devs wanted to go with small adjustments at this early phase of the game. Cause I lack the phantasy that they could somehow be oblivious to this since its so balantly obvious 😅. So yeah, us Ra enjoyers will have to wait a bit longer - will all be worth it in the end 😊🎉.

Egypt just seems weak in my experience so far as a mid level player. Nothing they do is rlly scary unless elephants come out very early or something and you’re not ready for their tankiness
