What's your best all around lens for the g85? the most versatile in your opinion
@foXnoMad4 жыл бұрын
The 12-60 I think covers a good range honestly but if you're doing a lot of vlog style, 8-18 lens is worth looking at.

There was a recent interview where panasonic stated they are sticking with M43 and full frame. There was mention of them stating they were going to re energize the m43 system

Great video and glad to hear I made the right decision but I have a quick question. Did you say you can't shoot 60fps on the g85 or I heard wrong.
@foXnoMad5 жыл бұрын
Thanks - yes, it's correct. You can't shoot 60fps at 4k, but can at 1080p.

I've been eyeing the g85 and getting close to buying. Are you still using it? Interesting Panasonic is extending the warranty to 3 years if you buy from authorized retailer. Very very tempting. The other cam I've been looking at is a6400

I still use the G85 a lot of the time and still a lot to like about this camera!

Buddy, I don't know if it's already too late to tell you this, but I have just dumped my G85 at the place I bought it from, oI never truly was satisfied with it. Yes, it had many awesome feats, which it nailed well, it provided you every damn thing you could ever dream of in a camera, and many cameras till today don't have it, such as 3-way system IBIS, Lens, in-Body. Electronic stabilizer, 4k live cropping. You name it. it nailed it well. BUT it failed at the most important thing needed in 2020-2021-2022 > AUTOFOCUS. its focus is horrendous, my goodness. you can't rely on it. you can even shoot an entire video and find out the focus was off or way too slow. I have changed smartphones right from my Galaxy s4 to Galaxy s6, others and including the phone which I'm having now, a realme XT from 2019, all those phones won't let you down in AUTOFOCUS. In fact, autofocus has never been a thing I thought one will have to worry about, my phone nails it and has never flopped. If a mid-range flagship phone can nail it, and a 2016 High-end premium flagship phone could nail it, then why would you want to buy a 2016 Camera that's costlier than all those phones but yet struggles like crap with autofocus? Secondly, the camera sensors are small, micro-four-thirds with a measly 16 megapixel... not the best for pictures if you ask me. I just got my Sony A6400 and WOW!, WOW! man the difference was miles, my SONY never missed a target or focus or anything. the only downside is it lacks IBIS, but that's not an issue, I got a gimbal for like 160 bucks - 200 bucks. so don't think twice. Thank me in the future if it's not too late.

great video! we know this camera continue autofocus for video a bit slow. How about autofocus for continue still shooting at 6fps? is it fast enough to continue focus on a fast moving object (like a bird in flight towards the camera)?
@foXnoMad4 жыл бұрын
Thanks - to be clear, shooting at 60fps 1080, it would be probably be fast enough but acquiring the target it would be a tossup. Depends on the lighting conditions (background vs. foreground contrast), the birds movement, and other factors.

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your video. You were very detailed in explaining the features of this camera. I was looking for a camera that was good for documentary filming not expensive. I read about the G85 due to the price I was also looking at the Gh5 but was on the fence & wasn't sure it would be good for me as this would be my first purchase & my first documentary project. Just wanted to know your thought should I go for the gh5 or stick with the G85?

Depends on your needs, they're in two different classes (consumer vs. closer to pro).

Will it continue to autofocus when used e.g for streaming via a capture card?

Depends on the focus settings you have it at but it should.

Nice review! By the way, I want to ask, do you ever test overheating the g85? We know that g85 can record video in 4k unlimited (as long as we have a battery and storage)
@foXnoMad4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I haven't specifically but I've recorded over several hours multiple times for streams, plus have shot in very hot conditions all over the world - no issues, the G85 has been very tough against the elements in my experience. Hope this helps!

Where are the lenses?? For g95 or g85. At least $400-2k. Even 200mm or 300mm not cheap. 150mm? $200-300. Wtf. How about canon ef adapter? Great body camera but sensor focus problems expensive lenses limited. Great camera especially for video and photo except focus for price point for body but expensive lenses. Obviously small mm and small f points are expensive for any brand but not standard wide macro prime telephoto lenses. This why I just bought canon m50 for video wide lense selection and features ...the g95 and g85 be great if not lense select limit and focus problems for video it be great for long video record weather seal too. Canon m50 worse 4k crop and no focus on 4k not weather seal and less battery record 30 minute no headphone jack.
