Because time is circular, not linear, Eren has always been free. His purpose in life was to embody this principle to the fullest extent. So as time goes on, he realizes that he already sent Dina to eat his mom or that he made his father kill the royal family. Eren remains true to himself and is not a slave to any sentimentality that might arise from his mother dying or telling his father to commit a "heinous" act. In nature organisms die and are born. Eren is not afraid to die because he loves the world. He doesn't hate the world. And the world includes this dying and being born. He is like Shiva the destroyer. Any trace of personality dwindles away.

Eren is one of the most intricate fictional characters of all time, its not often the main character manages to be the underdog, hero and final villain throughout the story and at times be all three all at the same time. His Goal which is freedom changes in its complexity as well as its meaning along with him as the story goes Part 1: freedom = free from titans, able to repopulate and restore the world (child/underdog Eren) Part 2: freedom = free from boundaries of the walls, reclaim territory for humanity to thrive (hero Eren) part 3: freedom= free from the judgement of the rest of humanity (underdog/hero Eren) part 4: freedom for Eldia, freedom to choose a path (villain/underdog Eren) part 5: freedom for the world, free of judgment and war (villian/hero Eren)

I think it's a little more different, Eren has always had the same goal, the only thing that gave Eren any spark in his life was his constant fighting for "freedom". Never to actually achieve it, after the rumbling eren would be just constantly bored of his life. Things like this was also shown in a different timeline or anime which was about how his life would be in a school life. He was constantly bored and thought there was nothing to life until he dreamt about a zombie apocolypse happening, after that dream all he could think about was hoping for there to be some kind of apocalypse in the future.
