I wouldn't play the game even though the expected value is $133,333.33, since there is about a 67% chance I could lose and $300,000 is a lot of money to pay up.

What was the expected value at the end?

That's for you to figure out! Then, once you calculate the expected value, think about if you'd play or wouldn't play. Imagine yourself in the gambler's shoes....it may not be an easy decision....think about why....

@@skewthescript but how do we double check if we actually understand the concept if we never know if what we got was right or not :(?

Good point! Ideally, your teacher will go over the "discussion questions" posed at the end of each video in class. However, if your teacher is not doing this, then you can find the handout key for the lesson on our website. For this lesson, you'll find the key here (after making a student account): skewthescript.org/5-5 The lesson pages are linked in the description of each video, and the handout keys will always have solutions (or guidance) to the discussion questions. However, be careful: the handout keys should only be used as a check. If you start using the handout keys in place of thinking through the problem first for yourself, then you're going to limit your own understanding of the material. Your exam grades might suffer!

Video roulette is actually a worse choice than live roulette. The payout ratios are predetermined. It's just another slot machine
