Paul was reportedly very upset by the breakup. Here are some quotes from friends: *''Paul blamed himself and was heartbroken.''* - Cynthia Lennon *''When Jane Asher left, Paul and the house fell apart.''* - Mal Evans *''Paul did go through a dark period after Jane Asher left.''* - Leslie Cavendish And Alistair Taylor reveals a lot of details in his book. He says the same as the others, that Paul was devastated. *''Jane’s departure shattered him. It was the only time I saw him totally distraught and lost for words.''* According to Alistair, Paul made many attempts at contacting Jane but was unsuccessful. When she mentioned their breakup on live television (which was said to have shocked Paul) I think he must have realised that it was highly unlikely that he would ever get her back. In the aftermath of their split, he wrote songs of heartbreak, sadness, a woman leaving him: _Hey Jude, Martha My Dear, Honey Pie, The Long and Winding Road, and Let It Be._ I personally think they were all inspired by their split. There's also the ad-lib he sings between takes of _I Will_ called _Can You Take Me Back?_ I Will was about Jane, penned soon after their engagement. When Paul got round to recording it after she left him, he is notably negative in the demos. Then the lines '' _I'd hate to miss the train/And if you leave me, I won't be late again_ '' in _I've Got a Feeling_ . Paul began living with the Asher family in late 1963 after he missed his train home to Liverpool. Mrs. Asher suggested he stay the night, and one night became two-and-a-half years. It was the catalyst in turning their courtship into a relationship. Paul was bitter. *''Jane was the first woman to reject him, and he did not like the experience''* said Alistair. In December 1968, six months after their split, Paul's response to a newspaper journalist asking about Jane Asher was: *''We're still in love with one another, but it's impossible.''* He started writing _Oh! Darling_ at this time. In January 1969 during one of the Get Back sessions, Paul repeatedly sang the first few lines of _Lady Jane_ by The Rolling Stones. Jane was clearly still on his mind, and it seems to me that he had not gotten over her. Paul had abruptly lost another important woman in his life. Jane reminds me of his mother, too. Jane Asher, the one who got away...

It's more likely that Jane had served her purpose, probably got handsomely paid for helping with the public acceptance of the "new" Paul after her lovely boyfriend died in late 1966.

​. You are so right. When billy was with the Beatles, he looked so much like paul. But with all the videos, podcasts and photos posted on the internet, it is astonishing the amount of people who are unaware that paul was replaced. From wings on, billy looked less like paul.

Anyone ever really LOOK at Paul's main photo when you look at it the White Album? You can just see the sadness in his eyes and it feels like that had been taken recently after their split. Granted what he did to her wasn't right... But you can just pick up on it, I know I do.

She broke it off with him a on live TV show! Why would she do this to her fiancé? She abruptly then moved out, refused to speak to him ever again, why, well because she couldn’t pretend any longer. When William, (here), got PM ‘s contract, she was coerced by the G. Martin to keep up the engagement charade. FFWD,… Linda meets William, (aka PM), and they married, she knowing full well he was William. The only ones who didn’t know were the fans. William, (Billy,0), has done a stellar job all these years, as PM. The JPM fame, over time, forgot what JMP had really looked like, which is quite like not Will, sort of. When the when original 4, (minus Stu, Tom & Pete), re signed their contracts, they literally signed lives away, not only musically, but intellectual property, publishing, merch, but more importantly their names and likenesses. There’s a few pre 67 interview with JPM, who said when asked his about his future w/ the band, he said he’d retire in a couple years, he wasn’t kidding, by end of 66, he was gone. Ok, these aren’t my opinions, above, this comes from the 4, just listen to the words coming out of their mouths, pre & post 1966.

There is plenty of proof that paul was replaced. There is the book the memoirs of Billy shears by Thomas uharriet. Sage of quay has many podcasts and videos. Tina foster wrote a book called plastic macca. Nick kollerstrom wrote a book, the secret life and death of paul mccartney 1942 thru 1966. The fingerprints didn't match when billy got arrested in Japan. The DNA didn't match when sir paul was sued by his out of wedlock daughter. There are a lot of videos by justice for James paul mccartney. Comparing photos and videos of paul throughout the years, observant people can see a difference. Different personalities, different ear lobes, different voices.
