The Apache was the only weapon that the Taliban truly feared. They called it "The Mosquito" and it was guaranteed to make them run for cover.

Depends on the situation and how much planning/intelligence you have. Every special force has a specialty
@Nevets19705 күн бұрын
Actually it wasn’t the Army Rangers that went in. It was Air Force Pararescue, specifically the 920th unit stationed at Patrick AFB (now Space Force base). The Lt. Colonel that went in the First time and was Ordered to retreat is Now the 920th Wing Commander. I’ve met him several times.
@hectorrivera66243 күн бұрын
@@Nevets1970 According to Marcus Luttrell in both the Joe Rogan show and history channel documentary, it was Rangers that did the extraction. And he praises them. The PJ's probably called in the air strike coordinated by the Rangers.
@Nevets19703 күн бұрын
@ Extraction and insertion is the Only job PJs have. They don’t “call in air strikes.” Since this particular mission was declassified, they have Video Footage of them going in from Their Blackhawks playing in their dayroom in the squadron. I’ve Seen the video and Seen the people involved, some of whom are still there. The Apaches were Army but the extraction crew were PJs. If you watch the Beginning of the movie they show the same team trying to go in the first time before they were called off. They were Air Force. Watching a movie that has to be edited to make things more exciting is Very different from watching Actual footage. Pararescue is a great secret. No one ever talks about them. They are one of the Air Force’s SF teams that gets Zero recognition. TACP is the unit that gets imbedded with other SF teams to “call in air strikes”. They train alongside the other branches (Seals, Delta, Rangers) After they get qualified by the Air Force at Hurlburt Field, Fl. I worked at HQ AFSOC for 2 years watching them train everyday. Between being stationed there And at Patrick where the 920th is, I’m very familiar with both AFSCs.
