My grandfather and uncle both fought for Portugal in Angola. The Angolans were most certainly not stupid. They knew the era of colonization had come to an end. Portugal held on to its colonies for as long as it did because they weren’t as cruel as other colonizers, at least until the wars began. Then all bets were off on both sides.

As a result of the most unfair, bloody, and destructive "decolonization process" occurred in the XXth Century, Angola went straight from being one of the most developed, prosperous, and well-governed territories in Africa (when under the Portuguese rule) to the position of a communist kleptocracy, ruled by successive bloody dictators, who had inspired years and years of bloodshed and arrest of political dissidents... Angola, looted and robbed to the core by its political & military Elites, had fallen in a deep hole, where it still stands!...

The economical interests of the great world powers didacted the fate of this countries, after the Portuguese left, many years of civil war e caos followed. Powerfull countries supported de "guerrilas" only to see Portugal out of this land, so they could earn with that, the future of the people was not in their plans, like always in history.

6:57 Czech CZ-27 pistols, probably provided to guerillas by Czechoslovakia. 12:05 It seems that till early 70s, Portuguese army was using FN-FALs but a lot of them still have bolt-action rifles. Interesting.

My mother was in Luanda before I was born and she said it was gorgeous adding that the bay of Luanda was dreamlike at night so starry it was. I doubt that it is the same now as everytime black people come to power (you can call me racist if you wish) it always goes down the hill; look at South Africa, probably even worse.
