You have to watch the show Ozark. Julia Garner was phenomenal in that show.

Terry's character in Rosemary's baby doesn't line up at all with Apartment 7a Terry at all. They're totally different characters. I was shocked how the writers literally ignored or rewrote Terry. She wasn't even a dancer in the original. She would have definitely mentioned it in her conversation with Mia Farrow! Totally different energy and character. Rewatch that scene and you'll see immediately. Unbelievable! Very poor writing

Yeah that scene in the original movie Terry seemed happy and carefree so I agree she seemed very different. I guess i didn't mind the liberties they took though.
@DocHayes4204 сағат бұрын
Agreed! Where was all the "starving & on dope" that was mentioned in the original?

I really enjoyed this movie. And I agree about it being engaging. It was the perfect length for the story they were trying to tell. OMG! I didn't notice the scarf.

Thank you for this. I have the impression many disliked it just because is a prequel. I understand people are tired of remakes and prequels but I think the disappointment should be focused on lazy movies that deserve it. Suspiria is a must! The old one is aesthetically stunning albeit it has old italian movies weirdness, and the new one is also great. Watch both in order, please! You will not regret it.
@WhytheBookWinsКүн бұрын
Yeah i agree, nothing wrong with remakes and prequels when they are done well! I'll plan on watching Susperia in October 🫣

@@WhytheBookWins I don't want to cross into mansplaining territory so ignore this message if you already knew but I watched the 1977 version in Italy on an old tv with my friends - we enjoyed it but years later, richer (?) and wiser I could get my hands on a remastered version on a good screen and oh boy it makes a difference with those colors. But I presume remastered versions are what is available now in the US so that's all good.

I thought the Devil in Rosemary's Baby looked more scary and intimidating. Then the devil in 7A. Also check out Suspiria. It's supposed to be based on Suspiria de Profundis by Thomas De Quincey.
@WhytheBookWins17 сағат бұрын
Yeah i agree about the devil in RB. Though the bejeweled one here was unique and that scene at the end when she remembers it with all those teeth was very freaky.

Have you seen the Rosemarys Baby series? I recently watched it on Tubi and I really enjoyed it. It's been several years since I read the book, and even longer since I watched the original movie, so I cant really say how they compare. I thought it was pretty good though. Worth the watch. Thanks for bringing this movie to my attention. I hadn't heard of it until your video.

I like movies with ballet to like Black Swan. I never done ballet professionally mostly classes here and there but I always think of it as a beautiful sport but it is also has this dark side I am glad you like it looks intresting and for people who say Teri was more carefree in Rosemary’s baby Terri could have been putting a act in the moment it can happen. It intresting seeing the differences and similiarites between Guy and Terri wanting fame and fortune and Terri not fully willing to cross that line
@WhytheBookWinsКүн бұрын
Black Swan is so good! And yeah very true that she could have just been putting on a positive face for Rosemary.

have you seen The Assistant? Julia Garner is great in that. She was also good in The Royal Hotel.

If you want to watch Julia Garner at her best then you really need to watch Ozark. That show is amazing and also Laura Linney and Jason Bateman are brilliant! I did not enjoy her performance here as much. I still have not found anything better to watch on Netflix!

This movie was boring. I fell asleep the first time, and had to keep rewinding because I kept losing interest. I honestly can't believe you reviewed the movie so high and criticized Diane Wiest's performance when she was one of the best in the film. So weird!

Yeah I have heard others praise Weists performance! She does have her moments, but yeah I didn't like her as much as others. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's always interesting to hear other people's opinions, especially when they are different

For me, the film didn't really work. Though I appreciate your commentary and I think you made some good points. I think the film would have actually been stronger if they had played up the "Pro-Choice" elements and made the film revolve more around Terry's ability to control her own body. Abortion was illegal in New York in 1965. While this is featured in the film, it's subtle and not really addressed head on.. I was actually hoping that film would revolve more around Mrs. Gardenia. I feel there was much more story possibilities with her character. How did she become involved with the coven? What led to her change of heart? Why did the Coven murder Mrs. Gardenia? Did she know too much? Was the Coven at risk of exposure? I think it was a huge missed opportunity. In both the film and the novel, there are so many cryptic clues suggesting what occurred. That would have made a great story.
@WhytheBookWinsКүн бұрын
Thanks for sharing! And Mrs. Gardenia definitely is a missed opportunity. What little we see in Rosemary's Baby had me so curious about her! Maybe we need another prequel all about her lol.

recently we had too many good movies about antichrist/satanic babies - deliver us, immaculate, the first omen apartment 7a is not on a same level as others, it was alright, very mid for me the first omen is the best out of 3, also it is a prequel for the classic - the omen (1976) - but these are not based on books sadly, so don't fit your channel anyways, thank you for the review! hope you'll do in the future "angel heart" (1987) based on "fallen angel" book - great movie and book as well
@WhytheBookWinsКүн бұрын
I haven't seen any of those movies from earlier this year, but I did hear great things about the new Omen so I sold watch it! The original Gregory Peck movie is so good.
