This is certainly one interesting episode. Spain is somehow similar to England, they divide their rooms with doors and walls to enclose the heating during winter season. This also prevents the room to smell when cooking. Most buildings are heritage or historical. The allowance on area to refurbish will be depending on the buildings historical value. In general they are premium rates due to location. This rule somehow applies to England "sobrang mahal" due to opulent history of the building/location. Congratulations Bea! Felicidades on your apartment purchase! I myself am going to Barcelona in the fall with the hope/plan of buying an apartment so I can get a Golden Visa. I currently have dual citizenship (Philippines and US) but with what's happening in both countries right now, it's good to have a contingency plan. You probably are aware that the road to Spanish citizenship takes much fewer years if you come from a country that was colonized by Spain. And having an EU passport has so many benefits (compared to the Philippine passport.) Thank you for sharing with us your apartment hunting experience!

Hahaha I was actually surprised by the beauty of apartment #2. We have the same taste. The location is superb and we are also living around Malasaña and I always pass by Bea's choice of apartment. When I saw the building outside with those vines hanging... I was like... Omg... She's so close yet so far.Good investment talaga for her.
