One thing you forgot on the check list; “you need to have wealthy parents to pay for the rent” what is a 20 year old student doing to afford a $625 per week apartment. I work full time and earn above minimum wage and there is no way I can afford to pay that much on rent.

Hey lovely, north facing properties are actually the most brightest and hence, most sought after in Australia. Obviously, if there is a building blocking the outlook that is a different story ☺️

For general good daylight north facing apartments are the best. West facing units receive the super harsh sun around 3pm to sunset which will make your room sizzling during summer. If you are looking for an apartment which is single aspect I recommend north facing units.

The apartment they chose looks like the newer apartments in Penrith. We lived in a “penthouse” in the new apartments in Penrith and it was amazing (saying it’s a “penthouse” because that’s what it was advertised as, but there were at least 10 other “penthouses” on the floor that were laid out similarly). It was split level on the top floor and so bright! Ours faced west, so we looked towards the blue mountains. If you’re looking to move out, highly recommend Penrith on the Thornton side. Our apartment was $540 a week and only moved out because we bought a house and the owners wanted to move back.

@@amelilee78 Ohh I mean that makes sense but when I lived in East Asia there were like no apartments with carpet. It wasn't noisy at all - they were some of the most well noise-insulated places I've seen. I guess over there they usually have heated floors though so that provides enough insulation or perhaps they are able to use more concrete or something. I feel like if you're buying a decently priced apartment/house, it should be well-built enough to not have carpet like it's literally so gross 😭

Strange to want west-facing in Australia. It get's super hot, uncomfortable sunset light especially in summer. Most Australians tend to want north facing light. Though obviously, highly local things might affect specific apartments or houses - such as if a big building is blocking the light from the north - as was the case here. Also, I imagine lots of expensive apartments on the north side of the harbour waterfront would actually want south-facing views to get in the vista of the harbour and central business district on the other side.

I hate appartments when you walk in and boom its an open kitchen, that flows into the living room.

I’m so confused can someone please explain why Briddy wants a West facing apartment for an all-day sunlight? I thought South was the direction where sunlight would be hitting all day..?
@anna-ek6mp
@anna-ek6mp 3 жыл бұрын
Thats probably because you're in the Northern hemisphere.. Australia is in the southern hemisphere, so north facing would get sunlight all day

I was confused too, usually you'd want north facing in Australia.

She's wrong. North and East facing is better. South will be dark all day while West will get the sun in the afternoon which is very hot during summer.

@@anna-ek6mp this may be a dumb q (and i am probably just dumb lol), but why would it be different in the northern hemisphere, the sun rises and sets the same around the world so wouldn't the sunlight be the same?

You like a west-facing window in Sydney??? Developers gotta love clients like you considering architects/urban designers (me included) tryna to block sun heat from the west

No one wants west facing. North/east facing is the best as it gets the morning sun. Try Gladesville, lots of new builds, good bus transport to the City
