YAHHH apartment #3!!! Literally that one I would have picked! I'm so excited for you!!! Let me tell you, once you get a balcony, things change. I love putting plants out on mine. Plus the luxury to walk outside for fresh air without having to leave the building or the comforts of your home is game changing. Can't wait to see how you decorate your new place.

It was easily the best choice 🙌🏼 can’t wait to find some larger plants to put out on the balcony, or maybe even an herb garden!!

as someone who lives outside of dc, trust me and sell the car. anyone who lives in dc rarely uses their car and it sits there while they make payments on it and potentially gets broken into no matter how “safe” a garage is, no worker is putting their life on the line for someone’s car. the metro can take u out of the city into the states surrounding and then the metro around northern virginia in particular is amazing, buses are fine, and once ur further into virginia the ubers are cheap.
@Aathbii6 ай бұрын
You make a great point. But I have a genuine question, but what if I want to visit my friends and family out of state on the weekends/holidays or do road trips? How do people who dont have a car navigate that? Im afraid ill feel trapped if i give up my car
@bee88256 ай бұрын
@@Aathbii if ur going for a longer road trip then the suggestion is to rent a car, but anything within the dc suburbs is accessible by public transport and so much is within that area that very few people drive places in the city, it’s such a nightmare and the tolls are expensive
@bevally15336 ай бұрын
I live in DC and have a car that is garaged in my building. I drive it a couple of times a week more or less. Also use the Metro and Uber. The car is the way to go when driving to the grocery and bringing the bags home.

Unsolicited design advice: Bedroom. What works. Dresser, mirror, shelves. What doesn't work, everything else. Do one large piece of graphic art on the shelves. Bright colors. Get a headboard or a metal frame bed. Remove lights, fake plants and other wall pieces. Go with neutral bedding. One lamp on either side of bed. Living area. It's dark, it can handle bright colors. Think oranges reds yellows hot pinks. Light wood is best for shelf and TV stand. Just my opinion which I realize no one asked for. Overall too many small scale pieces. Do a few large scale decor items instead.

My first apartment was in Dupont Circle. It was about $600 in the late 90's/early 00's. Tenant Associations tried to stop the scummy landlords from raising rents based on new land values, wanting real rent control. They all upped the rents before the deadlines to rent control and pushed out all the residents, and along with them all the interesting character and charm that made the neighborhoods unique. Y'know, the reason people wanted to live there... They moved in just to complain about the neighborhood, like noise as if they had no clue where they moving to. Who knew a big city would be noisy? 🙄 DC is just one big gentrified mess now, with violent crimes on the rise, team owners that threaten to move, and the cost of living is outrageous.
