I found this video a couple of days ago. I followed his instructions and found them very easy to follow. The Ring flood light provides very little direction in the instructions. I’ve never done any sort of electrical work before and quickly became overwhelmed.. found this video and finished in about 20 minutes.

Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even kzbin.infoUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.

Great Vid thank you, quick question? With the continuous circuit can I just leave the ground wire there in the box pushed to the back?? Thank you
@brianp76904 ай бұрын
The slate is called a window splice. Basically you could just connect the other wire in that little slit cut, that makes more sense if you’re trying to run the shielding of a wire to the ground, which doesn’t make sense in this case.

How to did you convert it to a continuous light? Did you just combine the hot and neutral wire from the switch? What exactly did you do at that point? It wasnt covered as well and cant seem to find a solid vid on this
@ApartmentMaintenancePro8 ай бұрын
Hey, the switch just used the hot wire, and breaks the connection when switched off. I just bypassed the switch. Neutral wire doesn’t run through the switch 👍 I would read up on 120v circuits before messing around though

Hello! Thank you for your video. I have two switches in the house that control the outside light (OL) - and they are on two different floors. In other words, one can turn on the OL from the first and second floor. If I remove the toggle switch on the same floor as the OL as you did in the video, would the other switch (on the 2nd floor) still be able to control the OL?🤔 I want the OL to continuously have power and not mistakenly be turned off by someone on another floor.

I don't know. You do have (2) 3 way switches. You will need to have a good understanding on how these work to rewire them (or bypass).

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro An even easier option is to buy a $1.00 clear or white switch cover (they make them for rocker or toggle switches) that prevents anyone from turning the wall switch off (or on). They either screw right into the existing screw holes or attach to the screws with magnets. No need to rewire or buy a dummy plate.
