If I may add a suggestion. The last spring tensioner is a complete bear to get on smoothly. The guy in this video made it look easy. I can assure you it is not easy. Last time I did this repair it took me 30 minutes of trial and error (and LOTS of swear words) to get / keep the seal in place and the spring tensioner in place. MY SOLUTION: This time I had my 12 year old son hold the seal in place at 10 and 7 o’clock and I pulled on the needle nose pliers like the guy in this video with my left hand and guided the wire into place. Took 30 seconds. So much easier. If you don’t have extra hands it is a challenge.

Thanks for the tip :) There's a cheap tool for the tension spring as well that makes it very simple to put back on, if you do a lot of these.

Great video...made changing mine out a piece of cake. The tool I bought off Amazon to assist in re-attaching the outer spring was useless, so buyer beware if you decide to go that route. I ended up using pliers and a second person and it was no problem.

it's amazing it all depends on the person/s using the machines as to how clean they stay over the years.... This machine in the video is 8... Mine is 19 years old... boot still looks new inside in the crevices and out....and really all I do is periodically get a hot rag and some bleach water in a spray bottle and about once a month I wipe it out... and the front glass.... It takes maybe 5 min's...

We tackled this yesterday, we looked at a few videos on how to do it. I strongly recommend taking the front panel off first. I think the hardest part for us was trying to do it without taking off the panel. Believe me, it will take forever. There just isn't enough room. Each model is a little different as far as the front, but this plan will work for you. Another tip I have is to organize and "LABEL" the screws. There are a lot of them and it can get a little confusing. Overall, I enjoyed the process and with practice, I think I could knock it out again in 3-4 hours.

We have the same washers that are about 5-6 years old. We put a good amount of bleach in the bellow let it sit for a few minutes and run on heavy duty and clean washer about 2-3 times (sometimes more) to get all the bleach and mold out. Those bellows are expensive and a royal pain to replace. Especially when the machines are stacked
@ApartmentMaintenancePro Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you are constantly cleaning they will stay clean. Unfortunately tenants let them go years without cleaning and sometimes the stains just don’t come out, or they scrub so hard they scrub a hole through the seal lol

You can do it without the removal of the top panel on these Whirlpool Duets, but it does make the repair a bit harder.

I have the exact same washer and dryer. This video helps so much! I've repaired my washer and dryer myself before and super thankful for this video to help replace the bellow. What size, model number of bellow should i get? Ive searched by washer model number and it doesn't show exact bellow to get. Does anyone have a link to which bellow to purchase?

I have water collecting in the bellow area but the washing machine drum is dry after a wash cycle. Sometimes really large loads takes forever to drain. I've already cleaned out the drain trap, it was fine. Any ideas?
@ApartmentMaintenancePro Жыл бұрын
those holes on the bellow are clogged up, you can try and push it through adn rinse it out, and also pull back on the rubber to get better access. Just don't pull the compression ring off or youll have to get it back on
@secretjuice6725 Жыл бұрын
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro You are absolutely right, I pulled the inner part of bellow out enough to clean the holes in front and behind them. It was like a mouse sized cat furball in total!!! (I have two cats) Thank you so much.

Thank you for the video! If I take this out and clean it, am I able to put the same one back in, or would it be too stretched and then leak?
@ApartmentMaintenanceProАй бұрын
@@katiebono2043 you should be able to put it back in, the issue I sometimes find is that they wear down and leak , especially if the mildew is stained into the rubber, people tend to over scrub at them

I did this tutorial, but there seems to be water leaking from the bottom of the laundry machine, any idea what could be causing it to leak?
@RAMIR3Z07 ай бұрын
Either the bellow wasnt installed properly or tightly or the hose in 2:39 is loose. Which is my case. Hose loosesn up when the washer moves and it becomes loose and water leaks from where the soap and the water flows

if I do need to replace the bellows, removing the top and front is not an option as the dryer is on top of the washer.
