Horses are a little unpredictable and I admire the fraulein for managing them all so effortlessly (apparently), and providing us with a very rare show. Its all about trust. No horse would any of these things if they were afraid. They KNOW and trust no harm is going to happen to them. The "stick" is a quirt, and is just used with a gentle touch as a guide, or for focus. There is obviously a lot of love, trust, and respect between these horses and their handlers or they wouldn't perform at all.

Sylvie did a great job with these horses. So many different training methods out there and I bet they had to train each horse as an individual. The horses look and behave just as they should in a well orchestrated show. Keep up the great entertainment, It is just lovely :)

The behavior of these horses looks familiar....as if she's using the same "horse whisperer" methods that encourage the horses to view her as the lead mare. Amazing performance! And I do believe the horses are happy to perform. An abused animal doesn't willfully do these acts. The training is impeccable!

Why are so many people saying that the horses are unhappy? Just let a horse stand "naturally" on the field, it would get bored very soon. I used to know a horse, that hated it just standing around on the field and was happy to do something and also learned a few tricks with fun. No one would ever complain about teaching your dog to obey and do tricks. Why is it wrong with horses? They are intelligent, too and enjoy some physical and mental training. And of course they don't look so happy, but that's because they are concentrated. Human artistes don't smile in their performance either...

Ich finde man sieht sehr oft wie angespannt die Pferde sind, sie legen viel die Ohren an und schnappen sogar nach ihr. Das ist alles andere als entspannend und harmonisch... Obwohl ich sonst ein Fan von Apassionata bin, hat mich dieses Video ehrlich gesagt etwas schockiert. :-(

one of my horses puts his ears back a lot, without being unhappy, sometimes they play that way...watch them with each other, if they are "mouthy" its natural for them. i dont feel at all that those horses are afraid of her, it looked all beautiful and natural to me
