My father worked for Southern Pacific for 34 years. He taught my sister and I to not only love trains, but respect them especially at crossings.

I missed the train by 30 minutes . Did enjoy this. I used to travel to school in Stratford on Avon by steam train from the age of eleven but they were eventually replaced by Diesel engines - just not quite the same. Have never been on an American train but was amazed at how long they are when I first saw a freight train. Love the sound of your trains, something haunting about it . Thanks for this Scott, my grandsons will love it too. Blessings.

I grew up next to a train depot in Wisconsin that is much like this one. The tracks were no more than a couple hundred feet from my bedroom window. Even today the sound of a train whistle almost puts me to sleep. You grow to like them when you live so close.

train station in Niles is fabulously beautiful with brilliant gardens just a few blocks from the main street of Niles. Might be worth taking it to Chicago at least once on future trips. The ornate architecture on the Niles Station is better than average. I drove through Niles to work for about six years before I moved to Mishawaka, down Edison street from Notre Dame.

That was fun! It was cool seeing a nice, new engine up close like that. My dad worked for CSX railroad. He was a dispatcher the second half of his career there. So I love trains too.

Hi Scott! Awesome look at the train! Looks like the have a newer engine than when I took an Amtrak train trip from Iowa to California back in 2008. We took the Amtrak California Zephyr. I love the sounds the train makes! Such a fun way to travel. Thanks for showing us! It was cool! :-) ♡

Thanks for the close-up, I haven't seen a train that close for a long while. I'm glad I wasn't waiting to cross those tracks! It's too bad they can't shut down the blocks when trains have to stop that long.🐕

Oh cool ! A train passing by must be extra exciting to someone who has been living on Hawaii, where there are no trains. Like me getting all "Oh, ooohhh," when I see sea turtles. LOL I am a railfan myself, but would not like to live right beside a railroad track. Especially one with a railroad crossing...all those bells and whistles! LOL

There are usually some Amish on the trains. My friend goes cross country by train and back to California a couple times a year to see family. That would make some good videos too. The backyards of Michigan are fascinating.

I would love to do one of those cross country train trips someday! On another note, why did they block those vehicles from crossing while the engineers were out doing their thing? Those crossing gates can be over ridden. I'd probably get a little mad about that LOL

Train tracks are so much wider tv han ours here. Also if barrier arms were down for that long here there would be serious traffic blockage issues lol

So do I Marie. And for those who were wondering, this train came in on the siding (not sure why it wasn't on the main line). No issues though - because no trains can come through when Amtrak is on the siding like that. Also for the person who was wondering about handicap accessibility, those cars are equipped with ramps.

@anniebellemiller29864 жыл бұрын
I was on the wolverine once. The ride was smooth, but there was always a little bump when going over crossings. The passenger cars felt as though they were going to tip over when going around a curve.

Our steam trains turn into Thomas the tank engine trains couple of times a year for the kids, they put the faces of the front of the engines 🚂 have to get on UK trains from platforms, climbing on would be considered a health and safety nightmare, lol
@allthingsharbor5 жыл бұрын
A train museum in Pennsylvania is having a "Thomas the Tank Engine" festival this weekend. They have a model of Percy already sitting on the tracks. I think it gets pushed along by one of the restored engines. I have been watching the set up on webcam all week.
