I told my mother about it and she just shrugged it off and said that it's probably just a misunderstanding. My uncle then did the same to my younger sister, my mum and another family member.

But, that thread detailed the phycological reasons many parents do shove their kids off: Lack of care being the least common. In most cases, it’s personal guilt and feelings of failure as a parent or caretaker that usually takes hold at that point. Parents put DEEP trust in institutions they frequent, especially religious ones, which is why much of the abuse from the Catholic Church goes unheard. No one THAT blindly faithful wants to doubt those that tell them they are of god. So they refuse the validity, say they were making it up, exposed to some media of sex that made them parrot things... it’s a sad reality but the moral of the story is ALWAYS assume a victim is correct until they are BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT found wrong

UK sentencing is complicated and people hardly ever serve what is reported. We have quite complex scales that judges use to sentence. Often, serious crimes like this will attract a sentence higher than what's actually recorded in the news. But if people don't know they system and sentencing guidelines, it can look weak. I can only suggest reading up on it and not thinking the media report the right numbers as they hardly ever do.

Parents, PLEASE teach your child about consent. Not in relation to sex, not until they're old enough for that conversation, but in relation to ANY kind of touch. Teach them that they can say "no" to physical contact. Teach them the places on their body they should NEVER be touched by anyone who isn't you (during cleaning) or a healthcare professional. And for the love of god, take them seriously if they come to you saying someone is abusing them. Even if the person they are accusing is a loved one, someone you trust, or someone with high standing in your community, TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY.

I probably shouldn’t say much but after me anonymously tipping the fbi a million times they finally looked into it and someone as bad as him is finally (hopefully) going to jail. The trouble is that punishing people for aberrant behavior only profits those at the top who are well aware of the causes but choose to let us be of risk of it. Throwing them in jail or even sending them to their death does nothing to ascertain the root causes, study the affects, support the victims of both events, or remove this from society. Worse still is how we as a society gain sick pleasure from punishing people, even when instances like a car crash are accidental, we say things like "and after just X-Years she walked free." We know that punishing people does not undo the damage or being back lost lives of loved ones, & some even realise that it creates more violent behavior subjecting them to punishment in cages. We judge people for behavior they never chose, yet condone violence & gain pleasure from the suffering & misery of others. And finally, the bit that will without a doubt trigger you if you are still reading this, the hard truth that everyone evades, is that free will is an assumption. No one wakes up one day & says "yeh, I really want to be a pedophile! or "a serial killer" or "depressed & suicidal", etc. People are made that way by this sick unscientific society. The only difference between a saint & a serial killer is environment. That's a VERY hard thing to accept, because after all.. it raises a LOT of questions. 🤔😟

Look, that other criminal was sick and depraved himself, but for f*cking up the life of this creep, and removing him from existence in the most horrible way possible - I would personally have reduced his sentence by a little bit. Since he was also in there for sexual assault of a minor, he probably saw the worst part of himself in this man, and wanted to destroy him as a means to try and destroy the same vileness in himself.
