The gratitude for this knowledge is massive my friend. Being in South Africa I'm limited in the right resources to follow. Turning to youtube to find a solid direction was the best thing i ever did for my growth as a drummer. Thank you so much

Eric: I love what you do to further the cause of percussion and the impact of what we do has helped bring what we do to the forefront of modern music today. I started out with an old beat up GonBops conga drum in 1976. Tried to play EWF's Africano from their Gratitude album and found out how hard it was to play, but was determined to figure it out. A year and a half after that my dad bought me 2 LP Potato congas form my birthday and I was in heaven. Bought the tumba drum to complete the set and opened up a whole new world of possibilities. There weren't a lot of percussionists in the Kansas City, MO area to learn from, so I listened to lot of jazz and R&B albums, went to gobs and gobs of music concerts and sat in with a lot of groups around town and perfected my craft. 40 plus years I'm still playing, still captivating audiences with my playing and wouldn't trade what I do for anything in the world. My influences are Ralph McDonald, Paulhnio DaCosta, Shelia E my idol and you. You can learn from anybody. Keep up the good work you do and let the beats go on!

I'll second the recommendation for the Stone book - I first worked with it in the late '60s on snare and set, but it definitely would apply to timbales as well! Did you know it was first published in 1935? And still very relevant.

Yesssss!!! This book will forever be relevant!!
