Watching your review, Anthony, it’s clear Aperty feels more like a 'work in progress' than a finished product. While it's supposed to be a batch editor, it’s still leaving behind glaring blemishes and crushing faces-forcing manual touch-ups that defeat its entire purpose. It’s almost as if Skylum wants their loyal customers to fund and finish the software themselves! With better, more cost-effective alternatives out there, it's hard to see the appeal. This software will blow your mind... but not before it blows your pocket first!

Tell me about it. They promise 2 years of upgrades and 5 years of updates but soon they will release another " VERSION"asking for more money or some kind of payment for integration, same old trick on people who fall for it. These companies need to stop this honestly. Where is the luminar neo which they promised was going to be beyond this world smh

Confused by the statement: "Note that the lifetime license is valid for two years". Could you please clarify. Does it mean you get updates for 2 years?
@TiffinboxTV4 ай бұрын
Yeah, that line had me confused too. What is "lifetime" about a product that is only valid for 2 years? Hmmmmm ...
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
they've said you will get Upgrades for 2 years and upDATES for 5 on Aperty if you buy now before the lifetime license sale ends on Sept 30th. After that it will only be subscription.

Nice but not as good as Evoto. Skylum was a fav of mine for years but they have fallen behind in speed and effectiveness of their AI. I still use Lumiar AI because it works. Neo is super slow and this is very similar to Lumiar AI, so Skylum is repeating products, which is of no help, except to their bottom line. What's really different?
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
Luminar AI doesn't have any of the retouching tools, not sure how you see this as the same. Luminar Neo doesn't even have the tools for removing blemishes to this level, adding makeup, contouring the face, and more.
@sounderdavis54464 ай бұрын
I'm not biting on Aperty, either, but whether Neo or another photo app, complaints about slow performance can usually be traced to hardware that doesn't meet ALL of the app company's RECOMMENDED hardware for THAT app: video processor, CPU, and RAM. Fall release 2024 Neo, no issues with slowness here.

This appears remarkably close to Apple’s Aperture, which they quit marketing in 2014, stopped supporting 2018. Can you tell me if this is correct?
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
No not even close. Aperture is more like LR. Aperty has no catalog it uses projects, and it has all portrait-oriented tools.

How close to or different from Evoto AI?
@henrycartier4 ай бұрын
To me it looks like Evoto is miles ahead in both retouching quality and functionality. And they are on their toes all the time with updates and new functionality.
@ElderMike4 ай бұрын
Evoto is like Lumina Neo and and Aperty combined, and the Evoto team seem to have more tricks on theirs sleeves, churning out new features every month. The problem though is that, you will have to be online all the time to use Evoto and the pricing model is the craziest I have ever seen.
@henrycartier4 ай бұрын
@@ElderMike Yeah I agree. It is very expensive for non-pros and their approach to that is to compare it with a human retoucher. I guess it make somewhat sense but when competition is getting closer they need to be aware. They are still number one though (no question!) and maybe that is thanks to the combination of cash coming in and keeping the staff happy.
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
Evoto is a per image credit-based pricing model, Aperty is not. If you buy it outright now you own it and get 2 years of upgrades included. You can edit unlimited numbers of images so in the long run it would be way less expensive than Evoto
@vincentroy50934 ай бұрын
@@henrycartierexactly. Skylum is giving this new software for review to many KZbinrs, but these KZbinrs fail to even mention Evoto in comparison. Evoto is miles ahead of everything else on the market, and constantly adding new features. They are leading the market.

just seems just like skylum neo software i used for 6 months but stopped cuz it would crash so much and sucked at batch edited photos .....this doesnt seem to much of a big update just seem like another app for them to make you wanna buy but the other ones they have do the same stuff
@MrV2u4 ай бұрын
250 is kind of steep for aperty. Evoto works just fine.
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
Isn't Evoto a credit-priced app? So for $250 you'd get to edit 250 images but with Aperty you could edit an unlimited number for the same price. How is that steep? Seems like a better deal to me.
@henrycartier3 ай бұрын
@@DigitalPhotoMentor It's not one dollar per image, not even close. However, it looks like they just increased the price significantly. I mean...by a LOT. I used to pay around 85 dollars for 1200 credits. That price just increased to 169 dollars. They doubled the rate.
@DigitalPhotoMentor3 ай бұрын
@@henrycartier I see. So 9000 credits or 9000 images is $521 USD per year. Still double the cost of Aperty. Just saying.
@henrycartier3 ай бұрын
@@DigitalPhotoMentor Yes, if you do 9 000 edits per year then that would be the annual rate. The results are different (I can spot that already in the youtube videos) and Evoto has more tools under the hood. That said it is mainly aimed towards working pros or very rich Uncle Bobs. However I see no reason that Aperty can't/will not improve even further. Competition is good and benefits everyone.
@Old00Farth4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the walk through... Hard to relate to, but I can see that in the long run, you could save money on some expensive Photoshop plugins. Exciting features - curious to see if it can be called from Lightroom as an external editor, like you can with other plugins. I somewhat agree regarding why they don't just update their existing software packages instead of making a completely new one; I agree it smells a bit like money… Good video - great walkthrough.

syklum Neo seems to do 95% of what Aperty does. why not actually compare the differences? Why would i spend 100's of dollars on something Neo already does?
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
No Neo doesn't have the same tools for portraits and the ones it does have Neo analysis 32 points of the face where Aperty does 1000s. So the editing is more accurate. Things it does that Neo does: way better blemish removal, freckles slider, eyebrow arch and position, lip position and size, apply blush, apply facial contouring. I demonstrated that in my video
@colinyoung94324 ай бұрын
Hi Anthony, thank you for the video. I'll be honest it looks to me that Neo well be dead and Aperty will replace it, as it's almost identical to Neo, in my view it'll be more expensive as well... Think Ps & Lrc are the best value at £10 per month, as Neo is a plug in as is Evoto in lightroom.... Don't mean to winge as do watch your video's and they are very good, thank you...Colin Devon UK.
@DigitalPhotoMentor4 ай бұрын
Nope it's not at ALL a replacement for Neo. Aperty doesn't have any of the landscape tools, HDR, focus stacking, pano, etc. Aperty is for portraits. Luminar is for everything else. Evoto can be a plugin for LR? Interesting

Hello and thank you for another thorough video. It is indeed an amazing piece of software. The only thing that turns me off is the company itself. I am not a friend of their locust like behavior towards the customer -- even now in the pre-order phase they state on their website something like "...because of high demand we´ve added another 100 download packages of the software (aperty). . ." That is so silly and stupid -- as if a finfished software product would ever be limited by piece-count. that´s just my little rant concerning Skylum. . . .have a nice day!
