This episode on the ApeVenture Brisbane to London motorbike trip, Jordan Tom and Ben touch down in one of the newest countries in the world, Timor Leste. Gaining independence in 2002, Timor is still a relatively underdeveloped country with approximately ~30% of the population having internet access in 2017.
As one of the most isolated countries in the world, with limited flights from Darwin and Singapore, the Timorese population were incredibly humble and welcoming to our adventure. Rarely experiencing tourists outside of the capital of Dili, we regularly found ourselves engaging in conversations and practicing english with intrigued locals.
Nothing could have prepared us for the natural beauty, simplistic lifestyle or excited citizens that we experienced on this trip. Road infrastructure was non-existent on the south side of the island, adding to the exploratory challenges the trip provided us with.
A big shout out to DeTerra, who hosted us both in Dili, and in their eco-tourism inspired farm in Baucau.

Very cool video guys, thanks for sharing! I just bought a 2024 DR650 six months ago and I've upgraded it up for both on road and off road, they are really fun bikes.
