For those who didn't understand: Mara's mother (Xenia) activated what seemed like a prisoner tracker as she was a convict and the sole survivor of the ship that crashed (which Mara a.k.a Vantage found). Vantage's fall was fatal enough to deal an open wound that kept bleeding, only slowed down and delayed by the freezing temperatures. Without hospitals, medical knowledge or the sufficient equipment to perform surgery and provide the IV fluids and blood that she needs, Vantage's mother was forced to call for help by activating her prisoner tracker and announce her location to the authorities via distress signal. Upon being found, Mara would then be brought to civilization and taken to a hospital to receive medical attention, but due to Vantage and her mother being very identical, it's possible that her mother would remain in hiding while Mara is taken in as prisoner, being mistaken for her mother. As always, a twist of events and personal agenda will soon lead her to the Apex Games.

Either that, or perhaps Xenia was a renegade / insurgent like Mad Maggie who fought in wars prior to her capture, or maybe she received this injury while hunting to survive. We may look forward to more backstory on Xenia in the future.

I can’t believe a 5 minute video made me cry. That just shows how much story they put in these characters to make it feel like an entire movie. This is by far my favorite story from the outlands. Echo is so adorable!!! And when they brought their others to guide the mother….my heart💔
