While the new update is good, there's a few parts that still don't quite get him up there yet -Drone now has 50 hp 2-3 hits and that sucker is gone for 40 seconds -When you toss the drone forward it only travels 23m. Meaning when you emp if you want to avoid getting hit you need to take 3 steps back. -The drone itself is highly visible, easy to hit and its about as subtle as a static tv even while idle -While the drone scan now is amazing he still lacks a genuine passive ability. -There are still several window types that prevent scanning. I'm not dissing his ability or his buff on terms I think he's a great character especially when played right. However he's still very team oriented, and will need to heavily rely on proper coordination especially in ranked playlists.

the drone distance was done specifically to stop easy emp pushing with zero consequences. imagine how low skill easy squad wipe it would be to just emp grenade a team and full send them without having to check your positioning.

From someone thats been Valk for 3 seasons learning Crypto is a lot of fun. Interesting that you and your squad dont mind the slow though? I was wondering if it was worth it to manually drive it behind them so it emps them but not your squad (whos already rolling up via pad or maggie bayblade).

Never fear EMP'ing yourself. I've never been shy to do it, even before this season's buff. But if you really don't want to EMP yourself, and you have a premade, pair with a Wraith/Ash. You don't take EMP damage while in portal, so trigger it right before you hop in portal and you'll be there before they can heal off the EMP damage. Another thing you can do on a hectic battlefield is self EMP on top of a deathbox and immediately shield swap.

I've played valk for so long and wanted to try a change. The multitasking and foresight the drone feels like another layer of learning ontop of the shooting. Hmm Maybe Valk/Wraith+ horizon + Crypto could be a comp team now. I don't see Gibby/Caustic as meta picks anymore. And now crypto is stronger than bloodhound/seer so I don't see them getting picked next to crypto

I just cant see Gibby being knocked of his mist pick status. Dome is one of the only readily available counters to Gibby ult so I just don't think he'll be out of the meta. I could be wrong. Maybe with Maggie drill spam dome will be shit but time will tell or the Maggie drill spam will be too much late game and get nerfed just like seers tac at release leaving Gibby back on top. Caustic is probably gone though. Still strong imo but not for algs level

I was a very proficient crypto main before the buff but the buff makes it so much easier to scan enemies during a fight which was the weakest part of crypto before imo .I knew most people only played crypto for his emp , which is fine, but now using crypto aggressively is way more accessible and easy however the skill ceiling can still be high which I like a lot.

Crypto who got the buff this season of being too passive but the buff actually does not make him any better in fact it makes him more complicated. They are close to getting him correct but the drone in non manual mode is useless cause after you throw it to get "the eye in the sky" its facing the wrong direction completely negating its purpose. Looking at what was done with Crypto they can just (IMO) implement these controls. Tap to throw Hack (if not active) Tap to rotate hack 180Degrees (if active) Hold to enter direct control of Hack (both for active and non active states) Tap (while in direct control) resume control of Crypto ( can be changed to hold for consistency Hold for in and hold for out) and leave the extra button as recall drone. Also reduce the timer on Hack cause 40 seconds is a long time to be with out your tactical especially when the Drone is the only tool which makes Crypto useful can't use any passive without Hack actively flying around in direct control mode. Especially now that you can throw the drone meaning your putting the drone in to more situations to get destroyed which seriously cripples Crypto's viability. Also shorter "destroyed" timer may allow for a second attempt for a sneaky banner grab if the first one failed. This would bring Crypto to the viability of Blood hound and also remove the necessity for every new legend to have a passive scanning ability especially those who aren't in the Recon slot.

While I really like Sweet’s excitement for Crypto, as a Crypto Main since season 5 and Masters player… Crypto is still bad. He’s extremely unfun in pubs. He’s like Gibby, you play him because he’s powerful not because you like it. Squads only need to destroy your drone for you to become useless and, if you EMP late game and there are other Cryptos (who EMP even .3 seconds before you do) it will destroy your Drone and you’ll lose the fight. There’s no backing up or escaping as a crypto. No second chances. You’ve got too much that needs to go right for him to be good unlike why Gibby is great. Gibby allows resets and holds. Crypto blasts your shields off and stuns the team. Bad bubble? Use Gibby ult. Bad EMP? Your team loses the fight. He’s bad and why I’ve given up playing him since Season 11 and watched my k/d improve. I played him some since the buff in plat this split but he gives nothing more. I already have so much skill on him these changes don’t budge him for me. Maggie is the Gibby Killer you want and will enjoy playing. Maybe with Caustic nerfed Crypto makes a good 3rd? Still don’t see why you wouldn’t want Bloodhound or Maggie.
