R301 is the old reliable that you can always pick up and fry with, and the flatline feels great when you fry but there’s always one mag that u completely miss and you just wanna evaporate.

the flatline is easier to oneclip with at close range and has a better hipfire but suffers at long range. the r301 is better in terms of ttk and is easier to control and I would say superior at long range. overall I pick up the r301 most of the time

Lately as a former r301 enthusiast I have to say my new favorite gun in apex is the flatline despite the r301 having the easiest recoil in apex out of all the guns I still manage to hit more shots with the flatline at mid to longer ranges which is insane

When you use recoil smoothing, vertical recoil disappears, so I would say that R301 is generally better for newer players, but as they get more and more experience in the game, Flatline becomes the better choice.

@@neon7488 While you're strafing left move slowly your crosshair right, or while you're strafing right slowly move your crosshair left, recoil is removed. It's coded in the game, that's why all your favorites streamers seems to have no recoil whatsoever.

Flatline just feels better to me with it having a bigger mag off the rip as well as per Extended mag attachment, plus I don't need to worry about having to find a barrel as well, just stock, mag, and optic

Comparing stats is stupid for this reason. When maxed out the r301 might be better but apex is not a tactical FPS where everyone starts with equal footing which means having your ideal weapons can be a matter of luck. The flatline has the advantage of only requiring two attachment slots filled to become effective while on the r301 you might risk running around with a rifle not fully upgraded all the way to the late game and this might lose you the game.

R301 is easy to use does less dmg but I prefer using the 301 at long range. I use the 3x on both guns anyways but I find myself liking the flatline just because I'm used to it just as much as the 301.

the flatline has more damage per bullet but slightly slower ttk and a LOT more recoil but i can usually one mag someone and have 7 bullets left the flatline is more reliable because even if you miss a couple bullets you’re still likely to one mag the r301 is easier to control and has a slightly faster ttk but you have to hit your shots to one mag

As a KBM player I prefer flatline with 2-4 cause 2x is good for mid range 4x is good for long (with jitter) and the hipfire is amazing up close. 301 is satisfying to use but you need to land levers bullet form it to have a lot TTK the flatline has higher damage per bullet which means less bullets shot and your accuracy doesn’t have to be 100% to do a lot of damage

ALso your forgetting that Lower FIrerate means you need better tracking as your target will move vs Fast FR and DPS which allows you to beam someone before they run

I don't really use the Flatline since I play R301 for mid/long distance & Volt for short. For me personally the Flatfline is just too hard to control on a long distance. For a short distance it's pretty good tho

if it’s a big debate start on the 301 it’s easier to control and lead and has easy recoil with 2x but once you get use to the flatline it’s way better it has two more bullets off the start and with the slower fire rate you have a little more time to hit your enemy when they move depending on your reaction time over all I think flatline is better in most situations but the 301 is just a good start

I prefer the Flatline, but after the damage nerf it got 2 or 3 seasons ago it's hard to keep using it when the 301 completely outperforms. I wish they'd revert that.

This is how I feel, when they nerfed it 3 seasons ago it just made 301 the god. It sucks because flatty was always there and you felt it was on the same level at 301. Now all you see is 301's in ranked when it used to be split about 50/50.

Off topic but my favorite gun in all of Titsnfall 2 was the Hemlock and I’m so glad it’s a shredder this season. 3 round burst rifles are the most satisfying weapons in an fps imo and the hem feels the closest to a halo 2 battle rifle than any gun I’ve used outside that series.

I've heard that heavy ammo can slow enemies down more when you damage them, although the R-301 is easier to control so it's literally down to preference but at the end of the day they honestly for all intents and purposes the exact same gun minus the recoil
