Are you still using this setup? I need to buy a basic kit, as I am starting out with no wash products. I've got an '07 in need of lots of love. It's pristine on the inside and neglected on the outside. I'm trying to turn that around. Should I just go with these products, or do you have any updated recommendations? My car bakes all day in the sun if that makes a difference. It's not garage kept and I stopped taking it for car washes after getting some bad swirl marks. It's been a loooooong time since it even had a wash, but I'm going all in and doing all the detailing steps-I just need to buy the products. Are you in NC by chance? I looked up your shop, but didn't see an online listing. Thanks!

I been using the multiple mitt method ( one mitt per area ) than put in bucket ready for the washing machine. In fact mutliple wash mitts are cheaper than all the grit guards for the two bucket method. Some people even recommend 2 grit guards in a bucket. To me that means the grit guards don't work as advertised.

Brilliant Brian and great to see others methods. I noted a few things I don't personally do: - The agitation with the bug splat remains is a big no no for me personally. You'll no doubt be inflicting some minor scratches/marring as bug remains can be pretty hard at times. I guess as you are correcting here it isn't a huge problem but I find allowing it to dwell 2 mins and rinsing with the PW is enough to remove the insect splat though and negates the scratching risk completely. - Your method for hand washing is an interesting one. I see your point with 0 dirt being deposited and recollected by your wash mitt into the rinse bucket but there is a problem introduced here. You will be picking a lot of dirt up going over 3-4 panels at a time with them and dragging that dirt across the paint work. At least with the 2BM if done properly you are removing most of that picked up dirt 1 panel at a time and not dragging it across several panels. I see the potential in your wash process though and actually think if you had a single mitt for each panel (roof/glass, bonnet, front bumper, wings, each door, rear wings, boot and rear bumper) roughly 13, could use some of the £1-2 chinese synthetic wash mitts it would present the perfect hand wash. I may consider this wash method in future for sure 👍 Please don't see this as having a go, only sharing my thoughts and not saying there is any right or wrong way. We all do things our own way, thanks for the video and keep them coming! 😊
@apexdetail85

Love the feedback!!! Appreciated actually. Indeed, the bug splatter will swirl, but Iam correcting anyway. Yes more mitts are needed after correction and protection. But again...getting corrected here. I have a wash kit video coming on protected cars CHEERS!!! P.S.feel free to chime in anytime... This channel is for the young up and coming detailers out there.

Paint will scratch no matter how careful you are at washing. No need to be over critical with 13 wash mitts. Especially cheap cleaning mitts ... defeats the purpose.
@BrianW1612
@BrianW1612 6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Dreiling A cheap but clean mitt will be safer than a dirty but high quality mitt. You are right about the scratching but the whole point is developing ways to reduce the possibility of scratching during washing.

Another awesome video! A very thorough process! A couple questions... - what is the pressure washer you’re using and what are your recommendations for one that won’t break the bank? - what did you use to dry at the end? I think I saw a forced air blower in the background? - how would you adjust this method if you didn’t have your shop and you were working outside in the sun?
@apexdetail85

1. Greenworks 2000psi (Lowes or Home Depot. 2. Forced air. P/T Blower, Metro Vac, Leaf blower...any of those. 3. Out in the elements...same chemicals...shorter dwell time.

Hi Brian, What kit do you use on a 1 year old car that had a new car paint correction, a film bra, Opti-Coat Pro Plus coating and gets a hand wash every week, rinse, pre-wash, rinse, contact wash, rinse, dry and then on a monthly basis the Si02 topper was reapplied. Now the car is one year old and looks great and I want to do an annual decon and for that I wanted to know what kit you recommend. Thanks and I hope you are feeling better.

You use the carpro iron foam but not Iron X that's interesting. Is the gyeon iron that good or is it the price?

Apex Detail hahaha. I recently moved out of my storage unit. Had some detail supplies. Driving around, kept thinking "what's that rotten egg smell?" It was the Iron X. Stinkiest one I've tried. Gyeon's version is one of the least offensive ones

Are you using a spray product when drying the vehicle or choosing to utilize air to minimize contact?

Forced air...Microfiber drying towel for the left over droplets. Drying aids then have to be removed before correction adding another step.

I've found that on my own cars, I don't have to use clay anymore when using Gyeon Tar remover and Bilt Hamber iron remover. I agitate the Gyeon tar a bit with a microfiber towel and Gyeon Tar is great that it works on a somewhat wet car also, a property that is not so common I think?

I've always been petrified to agitate iron out products. It would seem to me like your swiping metal filings over the clear. This must not be the case.

So no clay necessary with a combination of those products?

Bilal N I corrected the paint last summer and we have salt spread on the roads in the winter and with those products the paint feels smooth to the touch (through a plastic bag). Don’t know if it depends on the climate and location where I live that these products seem good enough? I should add that twice a year I also use Bilt Hamber Surfex HD (APC).
