For future of this car - It’s up to owner to ensure proper washing and maintenance because another color correction would not be good for the paint? Is that correct being at 4 mil?

WOW! Night and day change. I have a love/hate relationship with black cars. When they are clean and detailed, there are amazing. Once scratched and dirty, they are a mess. Love the reconditioned panel. Looks fantastic.As always, great vid. Thanks and keep up the great work!

I would like to see you try to use an small-throw DA with foam pad, since that is what many "normal" people have. It was smart mixing the polish with All in one.

It would be the same just takes more time to polish out sanding marks. More throw = more work done in less time. I just wet sand with 3k disc and polish never needed anything more or less aggressive for removing scratches.
@btbd2785

So you use 3k sanding discs on like a short throw DA and then use a foam lad to finiish?

When Brian fires up the rotary, i come a running. The panel looks sweet. 99% of people wouldn't see or care about those few deep scratches. Superb turn around. Hmmmm......how about a heavy blue Lake Country foam pad or a Lake Country microfiber pad on the door with the ACA 500 again with a D.A. Then, follow up with a nice polish. Just for comparison. That might be fun. ALSO! Break out the tiny rotary to get those little nasty ones behind the door handle. Crapy little tight spaces we all love to hate. That would be lots of fun to watch. Then, when you get done, give Sissy a big hug. Im starting to love my rotary. Thank you Brian.

Always fun watching and educational when you use the rotary on paint. Since the door have similar level of defects, it would be an interesting comparison if you cut with a DA and finished with the rotary.

I might add: I'm just a weekendwarrior with limited range of products, but I do have a rotary and 3"/12mm and 5"/15mm DA-machines. I polish my own car and boat. If I'm honest I just love polishing with the rotary on my boat/gelcoat. I don't know why, but it might have to do with less vibration, a more pleasant sound and perhaps a more connected feel to the machine/pad? I haven't tried a rotary on my car, but I've tested DA with Rupes DA-woolpads on gelcoat. The blue (coarse) DA-wool actually cuts nice on gelcoat. I've also bought a couple of the newer yellow/fine foam-wafflepads for rotary from Rupes. Haven't tried them yet, but want to try them with my rotary + Sonax Perfect Finish on my car (2014 MB GLA) for a light enhancement-polish. For cutting with DA and Rupes DA-coarse wool I used Sonax Cutmax - it did cut well, but found it a bit hard to clean the pad afterwards. I'd probably try the KC H9 (which I have) if I were to to use the DA-woolpads again.

Great job as always Brian. How about wet sanding the rear door with 3000 then polishing out 3DOne and a uro fiber 50/50? Most people at home don’t use a rotary anymore.

I love the purple foamed wool pad from Lake Country. Not quite as much cut as some of the all out wool pads but it still cuts hard without leaving too many holograms. I know you like the 3D 500 but i much prefer the 3D 510 for heavy cutting. I find it has a lot more cut than the 500.

Thank you for all the great videos! They are always so informative and helpful. I have a suggestion for a future video: Could you test and compare a long throw DA (like a 21mm) to a rotary polisher? I’ve seen at DIY Detail that they mention a 21mm DA can correct paint faster than a rotary while also keeping the panel cooler. It would be interesting to see your take on this and how both machines compare in real-world use. Keep up the awesome content!

Awesome results. I have used that combination before TW 1andDone followed by FAB Finishing Polish and Peleus. Going after those scratches, I would be concerned about burning through the paint. Ordering a paint depth gauge to measure before polishing off a previous coating from 10/2020. Would like to see CarPro Ultracut or PapaCut.

@apexdetail85 After seeing your use and review of Rehab, I had to try it for myself. It's become one of my favorite go to polishes to use. The work time, the ease of use, the time saving between pad changes, and you don't have to wipe off, the finish, and the actual wipe off are pretty awesome. I've been using it with everything from rupes pads and wool, to Lake country pads and wool and Buff and shine edge guard pads. Works well with everything seems like.

I typed and posted such a long comment and it's disappeared. Trying again but in a nutshell this time; as others have requested too; please consider pushing the Rupes blue/yellow systems to their limits on that rear door. Preferably foam instead of wool. As a newly launched detail studio in India, I'm wholly dependent on the Rupes system and would love to see you pushing the limits and hitting the apexes with it. But if you can't, it's really ok and I'll understand.

Brian: I was noticing that Harbor Freight rotary. The handle makes me jittery. I purchased my first Black and Decker rotary in the Summer of 1970. $210. It was a 2,000 rpm with a strictly an on/off trigger. No rheostat. A side handle and sling EVERYWHERE. It was a lousy machine so I replaced it with a higher speed B-n-D which was SO much better. It wasn't until the 90's that I had rheostat triggers. My style of buffing is to make them sparkle taking off as much as I need to make them sparkle. Save the paint? Life is way too short for that....but that's just me. Great presentation always ! Mitch.
