My local dealership offers a "courtesy wash" if you take your car in for service. This consists of a wash where they rinse the car and then leave it to sit in the sun so you get water spots. I am not sure why they regard this as a 'courtesy'. I always tell them to leave my car alone and not do it!!
@diydetailofficial4 минут бұрын
That is a bad courtesy indeed.

I had a customer who'd waxed his vehicle's for year's himself and it took me longer to remove his old wax than to do a 3 stage polish plus wax. After a few like that, I begged him not to wax his vehicles again himself, or at least let me show him how first 😂

Reminds me of a recent maintenance wash of a customer/friend. She went with another detailed because she felt his price was more in line with what it should cost to wash a car. Well, she got just that; a car wash and not a detail. She eventually came back to me because he was a no show for follow up visits and it was just like this. The entire hood and side panels were stained with the same type of caustic material. I had my polisher and did a test spot and the material came off but the polisher only comes out if I’m getting paid for it. If it doesn’t make dollars it doesn’t make sense.

Is your ceramic gloss comparable to the old Opti Seal? Just saw I had some left and used it today on my wheels and forgot how much I loved that while drying.
@SPECIAL_detailing8 сағат бұрын
It’s really frustrating seeing these types of results because sometimes peoples first experience with a detail is this and it ruins it for everyone else, even if you charge him 200$ you do the job right, even if it means your over your time limit, customer satisfaction comes first every time

You say there was wax put on the car previous. Would the incredible suds remove that or something else.
@diydetailofficial7 сағат бұрын
DIY Detail Incredible Suds won’t remove a wax, the only reliable way is polishing.

Love your content but I'm just wondering have you never cleaned the dirty car before. Because I've seen water dirtier than that before
Finally some real life good old dirty wheels. In real world the wheel interior is a thick black cooked mix of brake pads dust and oil. You usually end up using the most aggressive degreaser you have😅
@DanielReyes-hz1qk8 сағат бұрын
Use wheel protectant and they won't get like that. Wet Coat or any other spray on/rinse off sealant is super easy, or you can put a heavier coat on a dry wheel with a regular spray sealant

@@alexdragomirescu5084 or just use wheel acid, takes 30 seconds
@iam1smiley13 сағат бұрын
@RyanDaysSocks yup! I like acid washing stuff as well. I did up a couple Handi-buses that had iron brake dust and rust from some steel parts running all over the fiberglass body last week to show my rookie helper.....he couldn't believe how good it looked, he's always freaked out by the jug of "acid" that he was scared of using 😂

@diydetail I applied the 5vyear ceramic on my car in April of 2024 , but unfortunately i see that it is failing on the door panel. it starting failing after a bad winter storm. i wash my car twice a week and i always foam rinse foam and also use two buckets to be extra careful. question is , is it that i must have made a mistake applying , or does washing my car in the cold damage the coating ? Also what should i do , polish a reapply on all the car or just the failing areas? Thank you !! :) love DIY Detail!!
@diydetailofficial7 сағат бұрын
Your vehicle is simply contaminated. It’s normal for the sides to go flat after a few snow storms. The salt on the roads forms a sheet over the coating that can’t be simply washed off. To remove the mineral contamination you will need to use DIY Detail Water Spot Remover.
@Aaron-tv6fs7 сағат бұрын
This is the correct answer. Any water spot remover from a reputable company will de clog the coating and water behavior will go back to normal

Several things: I would be extremely upset if I paid for that! Regardless of the price. At bare minimum it can't have more flaws than it did before you paid for a detail. I love those caddies! Both for the buckets and for yourselves. Do you have links to them? Can you give a quick rundown/synopsis of what the previous detailer did or might have done that resulted in the issues? For example not rinsing well enough, letting chemicals dry, etc
