This video takes a closer look of the anatomy of clear coat, the clear, thin,protective layer protecting the gorgeous color of your car, truck, or motorcycle. I will also demonstrate different ways to do paint enhancements. A great way to step beyond offering basic cleanings in your detailing routine.

Thank you again Mr. Brian, I think I may go this route vs the 04/06. A lot of info on this clear coat subject. An 8 month old car with white soft maybe just what it needs. A little clarity, saving the medium cut for a later time.

Really good video and plenty to think about. Clear coat preservation is not talked about enough by a lot of detailers out there. I always try and park in the shade in the summer and try to keep my car out of direct sunlight as much as possible to help maintain my clearcoat as long as possible.

Only you and Scott are even bringing up clear coat longevity. My Honda, black of course & daily driver, was hammered as it sat on the dealers lot for 9 months. Wish I'd been more educated on clear coat longevity. I used DK's Blue Diamond w a TourqX and Oarnge pad, then Chem guys v34 both followed with a black pad and StS 3000 polymer sealant. Then used Griots Fast Correcting w a White hex, then sealant again trying to get all the imperfections. As winter approaches in NJ, I'm afraid to do anything else. I have Griots Perfecting cream, I was planning on using it as part of my winter prep to get some of the marring and towel marks leveled down before sealant. Should I even bother? Alot of Honda owners already complain that their clear coat is being beat up while daily driving, leaving paint chips, and road rash. Guess I'll just use the perfecting cream, white LCC pad no pressure and follow up with sealant. This is an eye opener!

Sheik's Detail mark v has good product, I use meguirs and car beauty pro products like the strawberry glossy wax , but non of that means nothing if you don’t have a good da polisher, I started with HF cheap crappy da then went to PC decent but not great, finally I got a super deal on a flex and man I tell you the work comes out beautiful.

do you sir , have any clue, how much in...anerage of cource,.....maybe a 2 stage correction can remove clear coat, maybe 2-3μ of the total 50? do you have any information? i know it is difficult because it depende on the machine the compound e.y.c but in average how much clezar coat we loose in a average 2 step correction??
@whitetoast7490
@whitetoast7490 5 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is that the uv protection built into the clearcoat is 1/2 way gone after 5 yrs and that's assuming no paint correction is done. After that if you don't keep up with sealants or coatings the paint will oxidize much faster and if it's corrected with compounding you dam well better keep it protected..
@apexdetail85
@apexdetail85 5 жыл бұрын
That is exactly what I want to get across. Not every paint finish will be affected the same way. But it is something to keep in mind.

That info is making me rethink if i should do any paint correction to my mother's car. Its a dark blue 2008 honda accord. Kept outside I've waxed it over the years but never any compounding. it's at the point where it might need it. The paint is ok and the car doesn't get driven that much as she's getting older (85). It has a few scratches and swirls but not much oxidation. She's not too picky but I want to keep the car in decent shape as it's probably the last car she'll own. Any advice would be appreciated. Thx

white toast perhaps a glaze - it has very mild abrasives as well as fillers to make the paint pop - if you keep it waxed it should be fine for 12 months or so...

Hey friend i've tested 2 weeks more the dressings and PERL appeared to be the best :) Wolf's black looked the best on a dry car (strangely,it surprised me) but after a degreaser/wash the best was PERL and then T1 . Didn't liked Endurance tho, too greasy it flew off the tyre after the degresing. The tyre looked dirty ,like being greased. sorry to change always the topic 😂😂😂😥😥😥

ViHi, greeting from Puerto Rico. I am new in this industry and I have a question. When you offer a 1 step polish, do you have to do a exterior detailing and after a 1 step polish. How I suppose to charge, a exterior detailing rate plus the 1 step polish rate, or the rate of 1 step polish cover all the job. Sorry for my English is not good. I hope I explain well.
@apexdetail85

Great video. I ordered some IGL quartz + and want to make my 02 4Runner look it's best before coating. It's silver metallic. I was planning on sonax perfect finish with orange lake country force pad followed by angelwax perfect polish on a black pad to get the most out of the old paint. I have cutmax and microfibers too but I don't think it needs that much aggression. Sound like a decent plan?
@nailbomb3
@nailbomb3 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not Brian obviously but yes that sounds like a solid plan. Make sure you do a test spot thou starting out with the least agressive combo of pads and polishes that you have because sometimes you will be surprised at what you get, and you might say "you know this looks good enough!" and by going that route you will have removed the least amount of clear to get the job done.
