In areas like that fender vent, where only a small pad with rotary can be used comfortably, how do you avoid getting holograms from the rotary work? When/If a DA cannot be used.

Apex Detail hi Brian. Wow what a excellent video. So much information for me to absorb thank you. I really like Griot’s microfiber fast finishing pad. It’s red I think it’s like on medium to low profile. I really like using it with Maguires 300 or Griot’s correcting compound for a one step. It is aggressive enough to get out larger defects but also finishes down excellent and produces a very good shine. Again Brian thank you very much this is one of your best videos to date him like I said you gave me so much information to absorb with all the different kinds of pads it can be really confusing. Thank you so much for helping to clear that amazing video.👍👍 It has always give a hug to take you know who your dog Forgot to ask this question at what temperature Does it start to get dangerous for ruining the clearcoat

I really enjoyed this series there is so much to learn about all the different pads. Before I watched these and other Apex videos I was terrified to wet sand my clear coat, but seeing how simple it is and how easily sanding marks can be polished away you have taken my fear and trepidation away from doing the process. For us amateurs I think it would be best to stick with the same one or two compounds and keep a variety of pad available. I wish some of the better heavy cut compounds came in the smaller 8 oz bottles.

When you started to talk about car covers my PTSD kicked in. Back in the mid 80's I had two red cars that I installed bra's on. Cleaned each car regularly but left the bra's on for the first 6 months, I need not tell you what i found when they came off. I worked forever trying to clean up the mess the bra's left on the clear coat. Both cars were never the same so I had a choice leave the imperfections in plain view or put the bra's back on. So with many coats wax the bra's went back on. Have a challenge for you: Using only products found at the Dollar Tree detail a car, call it the Dollar Tree challenge!!!!!

Very nicely done series, informative and well explained. Great tip at the end with extensions and smaller pads. I have a torq random orbital buffer and use hex loxic orange cutting pad for the correction, but cant quite get as many scratches out that i would like. Im a little scared of burning through the clear coat and probably go too fast over an area. Could or would you give any hints or suggestions to me about doing a better job. Thanks for your time and response if possible. Great job on all your video's. Keep up the great work.

@jaylawson01

@@exceldetail , it's actually in video #2 that he discusses which compound/polish. When he starts using the wool pads. And he does discuss which 3D products he uses. However, he never shows or discusses what he uses when he gets to the foam pads. When he switches from pad to pad here and uses them on the panels, the video cuts only show the product already on the pad and he goes to work. He never says if he uses the ACA 500 extra cut or just the 3D One or a combination of the two like he showed that he likes to use when using the wool pads. And the ACA 500 says it's for wool pads. Like LDel95, I would also love to know what he uses with the foam pads. I've watch the videos several times. It's possible I somehow skipped something during the foam pad video but I don't think so.

I know I already posted a question on an earlier video in the series, but I will be using those hexlogic pads. Will the orange be enough with megs ultimate compound to cut out moderate swirls with the c5's hard clearcoat? I also have perfect finish and 3Done but I feel they dont have enough cut

I used those hex pads from Lake Country and they all failed on me. They completely lost all thickness to them, nearly flat in the center of the pads. Unless AutoGeek sent me some counterfeit pads, I'll never buy them again, complete waste of money. BTW: Nice turnaround on the Vette B! That car looked horrible before you got your hands on it.

Subscribed, and look forward to your teachings. But, if you have the time, tell me how on earth do you polish an Optima? I tried an orange pad and CarPro Fixer but it left a haze. I went to the finest polish (reflect) and a white pad and it "smeared". I know its soft paint but damn, what's it gonna take? I also tried the trunk with Griots Cutting and Finishing polishes (which did better) on an orange pad but I am still not getting the mirror look. Its as if there is still a milky haze. Of course, it was washed with reset, decon with iron x and tar x, clay bar and ipa wipedown. bmw, easy. mercedes, easy. gm, easy. Even ford is easy. But this car? nightmare... So, what am I doing wrong? Oh, the machine was a flex 3" da on medium speed with medium arm movement. Thanks for ANY help you can offer me.
