Surprised that was single stage paint. Good job showing all the ways to correct it. Makes less afraid of trying.
@jdisdetermined2 жыл бұрын
Single stage is wonderful for correction. Very satisfying and responsive, and much more workable material. There is nothing to be afraid of, do your test spots, keep your arms moving and use basic common sense and you’ll be just fine. It takes an extreme lack of judgement or concentration to do irreparable damage. You can even tape peaks and edges with 1/4” tape until you’re more comfortable. The danger is absurdly blown out of proportion, especially the rotary fear. A rotary at low speeds with light pressure can be an incredibly gentle tool.

Awesome examples on various correction, yes there's a lot of Carrier oils in 3-D one but as you said you can work it a long time. 👍🇨🇦

I’ll take oil over dust, any day. Still a big fan of One, it’s just very predictable and consistent in every scenario I’ve thrown at it. It does exactly what I ask it to do. 👍

Your compounding videos are some of my favorite videos to watch. After the first step I was hoping you would wet sand and finish down with the rotary. I cannot wait to see how you protected this single stage paint! Thank you for this amazing video.

Brian another excellent video, your knowledge and enthusiasm is second to none , along with John from forensic detailing in the uk 🇬🇧, I love the work you have done on the cruiser , I still feel vulnerable when polishing, could you suggest a polish for an Audi 3 years old with good paint work, but just needing a correction,? Keep up the brilliant work, it’s much appreciated 👍

Great work! Love watching your video. Have one question. In your corvette video, you have a flexible rotary shaft tool that you use for small and tight areas…. Where can I get something like that?
@AntEloftheHouseofEl2 жыл бұрын
Yet another great video Brian. I wanted to pick your brain about pad-polish combos. I'm sure you've been asked a million times already of course. I have a 2020 VW Tiguan which has clear coat harder than Rocky Balboa. It's only got fairly minor marring because I've cared for it properly from new, but I would like to polish it up. Problem is, it just laughs at every foam pad I've tried. I am thinking of going for an odd combo - Meguiars Microfibre cutting pad but using Sonax Perfect Finish. What are your thoughts on this? Too weak? To hard to finish down? I was hoping it would be the perfect combo of cut and finish, especially as I'm only using an 8mm throw DA which isn't super powerful.
@NickVetter2 жыл бұрын
What polishes and pads have you tried?
@AntEloftheHouseofEl2 жыл бұрын
@Nick Vetter started off with perfect finish and a medium cutting pad. No dice, so I kept the same pad but switched to sonax cutmaxx. Still no dice, so I then tried perfect finish on a Sonax hard foam cutting pad. That made a bit of a difference but didnt remove anything but the absolute most minor defects. Didnt want to go to the hard pad and cutmaxx as i dont have a workshop or the time to do a two stage.

Orbital at high speed?
@smokester77642 жыл бұрын
Call a professional 👌. From what I read, you don't have the time or the right tools. You will have to at least do a 2 step. If no garage go grab a car cover and cover it after the cut...wet sanding or course pad. Careful not to heat the paint while trying to remove the defects then you'll really be in a nightmare. Come back the next day and polish away
@AntEloftheHouseofEl2 жыл бұрын
@@smokester7764 it's not necessarily about the time - it doesn't NEED a two stage. It's been safe washed from the day I picked it up brand new from the dealership. On any other paint, it would be a refinement polish and nothing more than that. But either the clear on this is as hard as diamond, or it's the new type of clear some manufacturers are now using that is a nightmare to polish.

I’m surprised that companies are still using single stage paint.Due to environmental reasons and all.That FJCruiser isn’t that old,Impressed with the finish. I’ve done 1sigle stage paint and the reflection is more satisfying than Clear Coat

On the rotary with the blue wool pad for method 2... it looks like the pad is a bit larger than the backing plate? Like a 6" pad on a 5" plate?

Yes...I like wool pads a bit larger than the backing plate. curves up around the backing and protects edges.
