There's actually quite a background story to this gig. Can't remember it all now but a load of english artists were booked for this gig seemingly by people who had no idea what sort of music they played. I think one of the artists was pulled out of the booth or off the stage after a few records, one other artist got as far as one tune before being kicked off, seem to remember something about guns being mentioned as well. Very hazy now though as this was a very long time ago.

Kelp Kelp yeah - britronica 1994, where a number of uk artists played in russia but the whole thing was quite a disaster since mark pritchard and aphex managed to get food poisoning from the giarda bug, and that the people organising the venue didnt even know what kind of music was being played. guns were involved and im pretty sure aphex had this interview while recovering. mark p wrote about it in some redbull interview on the web somewhere - just google britronica 94 and itll come up

The translator is really bad. that was a time when English was very rare to come by in Russia I guess. Its a little better now. I am Russian and he wrongly translated "I only make music for myself. its a relation between me and music. Theres no other factor that interrupts it. So press or whatever anybody says is irrelevant" into this: "I don't make music myself. The press often lies about certain things and skews certain things." very bad. totally wrong words. Poor Richard.

This is so fucking cool. Look how crazy his eyes are! Neat, and tidy movements. It kind of reminds me of this one time when I was watching hockey, and the commentators mentioned that the goaltender on the opposing team was warming up his eyes for the game. He darted around the arena staring at focal points for a split second each. I believe that the goalie, and James are both machines used for different purposes. But imagine; the 'tender' is warming up, but the Aphex Twin is part of the machine.

Doubtful. There are so many recording artists now, that this will perhaps be viewed as a period in history with far too much information to digest, and the ones who will be focused on and remembered, are the least worthy, but most popular ones.
