At the time that RotJ came out, it was said that the 2nd Death Star was three times the size of the original. But it wasn't as nearly big as the planet from which the shield generator was protecting it. It's entirely plausible that large pieces of the 2nd Death Star crashed into the Sanctuary moon.

I think it is going to be revealed that Rey is Luke’s daughter. So, why didn’t the cave show the faces of her parents? Why were we, the audience led to believe that she was a nobody? Well, because Rey told us that back in the Force Awaken when Maz Kanata asked her just after she touched Luke’s lightsaber. Speaking of Luke’s lightsaber, do you remember Maz’s excitement after Rey touched it? I think the cave showed Rey what she believed, what she wanted to see, not what actually is. I think the cave was unable to answer Rey's question because the Force was not connected to the answer of her question. What was Luke’s status through most of the Last Jedi? Ach-to might have been the home of the first Jedi and it might have been steeped in lore, but Luke lived the life of a recluse there, much like Obi-Wan Kenobi did on Tatooine. And like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke disconnected himself from the Force so that he couldn’t be found. He was ashamed of his actions and which produced, Kylo Ren. The cave didn’t reveal Luke as her parents because Luke wasn’t connected to the Force. The cave likely showed Rey a vision she herself created and believed to be true all her life. I know many did not like the story Rian Johnson was telling, and I don’t know if this was where he was going with his story or if this is where J. J. Abrams is even going, but this is certainly a conceivable avenue. The new trilogy has focused on Rey specifically. The Force Awaken was about Rey. The Last Jedi was about Rey. And I’m certain that the Rise of Skywalker will be about Rey too. The whole begin of this teaser was about Rey. She is this generation’s legend, and as Luke line, “a thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight” is definitely directed at Rey. Rey finally breaks the cycle started by Anakin and continued by Luke. Anakin embraced the dark side of the Force and Luke embraced the light. The last Jedi showed us that it’s possible to be in the middle. I believe we’re going to see Rey balance the Force; hence, the story’s title, the Rise of Skywalker.

So in the scene where we see C3PO , he's with Poe and Finn who seemed to be in some sort of fighting or defensive postures. I see Chewie defending them as they're flying along and he gets shot. For me if I were in that position, instant protocol would be to pick up the fallen weapon and use it. Doing a theory vid today

Love your raw joy - but can we PLEASE stop it with the “retconning”? There’s not going to be a single thing “retconned” - things will be further explored for sure, but saying JJ Abrams is going to retcon anything is like saying the Russo brothers retconned infinity war with endgame - which is actually much more accurate when you think about it than JJ retconning anything in 8. He even said nothing will be changed - that would be storytelling suicide - and nobody at Lucasfilm - not a single person has said they have any plans on changing anything that was set up. Apocaflix! Movies I can definitely tell. And that’s fine if you want to use that term if that’s what you mean - just be aware that when you do, that’s not what 99% of the people who DO use that term (and I don’t know why since not one single person involved with the film has even hinted that this is the case, it’s ALL based off of troll rumors) mean something completely different. What they mean is they are going to “undo” what was done in 8 and pretend like it never happened or straight up change it, not for any creative purposes to the story, but to get the “angry fans who didn’t like TLJ” back on board.
